Tim Wellens & Thomas de Gendt are jumping on the pro-holiday bikepacking bandwagon to get home after Lombardia

My first thought is, "That's a great win for Apidura"

I think this is just great. One of the many reasons cycling is so much better than other sports is that the guys in it are really down to earth.
You would think he'd know to turn the bike around before photographing though.

Pretty much every set of factory wheels will be laced differently, front is almost always radial, these rear are 2:1 straight pull(these are the ever popular Campag Zonda). Most rears are 2 cross on the drive side.

Most campag factory wheels have this lacing pattern
  • I bet those bags haven't got 35kg in them.

The team will "flip the script on the calendar, with riders not just competing in the WorldTour but also fixed gear criteriums, ultra-endurance races and mixed-terrain events.'

They really will be the hipster team. I like it!

They need to do this sort of thing to gain the sort of following that they had when they were Garmin, but that gets more difficult as the results become fewer and further between.

That being said, I am looking forward to seeing someone like Phinney tackling the 3 peaks cross

Why on earth would you have the leading edge of the bars cluttered with cables etc?! Makes no sense from an aerodynamics perspective at all...

Designed in France. The engineers had to clock off at 3.

that stem and bars is not aero at all. mind you that'd be less than 0.8% of the overall aero profile. bike looks nicer than the outgoing 795... but they will get slated by the aeroweenies.

More concerning was the Fortuneo team ditching them, apparently because they had technical issues. Seems like all these lovely integrated parts were a bit of a pain.

That head tube looks massive! Makes it look more 'sportive' than 'pro'.

Though from the looks of it that is quite a large sized frame.

A bit of a farm gate but if the stem was slammed it would be flush with the top tube, so more aero. Set how it is it looks awful.

Differently laced wheels doesn't look great either...

I have the Eurus G3 wheels (same pattern). They are great wheels.
You don't see the spokes when they are spinning around. Ride them and then the association with them is different.

Function over form. Form is subjective, function is comparable.

Best wheels I've ever had, them Eurus.
Smashed into a rock on a hairpin descent, got a ding in the rim and a buckle in the wheel. By the time I got home (2 weeks and 1800km later), both the ding and buckle had gone.
Ding and Buckle. Great Manchester band in the late 80's - Tony Wilson had big hopes for them...

Funny, in a slightly nuts sort of way.

Won't be long before someone starts the 2020 thread. There's some poetic license in there.

I suppose this should be part of a 2019 thread, but AG2R are switching from Factor to Eddy Merckx bikes. It’s sounds good but the Factors are lovely
