Yes, altho' my attention is entirely occupied by the football so I can't be sure.
And if any one knows where Lord Sugar's marbles are can they please let him know. He needs to find them urgently.0 -

Handball still has to be deliberate, right?0

KingstonGraham wrote:Handball still has to be deliberate, right?
The FIFA rule book (Laws of the Game 2014/2015) defines it as:
“Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with the ball with his hand or arm. The referee must take the following into consideration:
• the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand)
• the distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball)
• the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an infringement
• touching the ball with an object held in the hand (clothing, shinguard, etc.) counts as an infringement
• hitting the ball with a thrown object (boot, shinguard, etc.) counts as an infringement”Wilier Izoard XP0 -

Haha. I can't believe that he reviewed that decision and said that it was deliberate. If it was a deliberate blockage, he was blocking it by making it go slightly more towards his own goal because he knew there was going to be a really off target header by the Aussie. Should have been a corner.0 -

Penalty and yellow card. After TV review by the ref.0 -

Football and cycling do seem to have random rule enforcement in common.
The problem with VAR is that it needed more experimentation. They should have taken hundreds of incidents, a load of referees and experimented to see if they came up with the same outcome. If they didn't it shouldn't be part of VAR.
Another example is that the offside rule is based on any part of the body that can play the ball, so includes feet. Linesmen only consider bodies, but VAR is going to have to include feet which is going to lead to some bad correct decisions. They should have considered all this and changed the rules accordingly before introducing it.0 -

I don't think it's in football's interest to have results that fans don't moan about afterwards.
That's my theory.
It's the fibre in the football diet.0 -
Nah, VAR should just give the opportunity for a referee to get more information. If he is still going to make a weird decision, that's just life. More decisions will be right with VAR than without.0
-
Cricket went through all the same nonsense (no hawkeye, "it's just to correct howlers" etc.), before finally adopting a sensible system. Football will no doubt do the same.0

Commentator: "Just worked out that 17% of all goals in this competition come in the last 15 minutes.." OK.0
