Seems like a pretty fair interview. Theres a thing out on the internet somewhere where he's followed around for a few days and goes to look at Zoncolan. He seems like a pretty cool guy, I hope he can make a really good fight back.

Vino’sGhost, who when caught dancing on Froome’s grave would now say “I was remembering a tune I heard in a discotheque and then accidentally strayed into the cemetery and tripped over the sadly departed’s head stone: what are the chances?! Lovely fella, sorely missed...”

Sorry I only speak English I have no idea what this means

It is a shame how the sport has found itself and how we view it in 2018 that there are 6 pages on the 'downfall' of Froome and only a couple of posts on the rise of S Yates.
But this is about the (possible) fall of Froome AND the rise of others.
That's fair, but where are the posts about how good Yates is (as one example)?

And tbh i think it's a bit insulting to Yates and Dumoulin, and all those ahead of Froome, that everyone seems to be assuming Froome is just out of shape, rather than they are riding superbly and have made a step up.

Haven't seen anyone say Dumoulin isn't riding well, I don't think. He's being beaten by better climbers, but they will still not think they have anywhere near enough over him yet.

Froome finished 23rd on Sunday. It's not insulting to anyone to say that is not where he would finish when on form.

    In his own words;
The body's taken a bit of a beating - ever since that crash I haven't felt myself, if I'm honest. I've had quite a bit of pain on the right side, I'm feeling unbalanced, my left [side] is working a lot harder to compensate.

It's clear that he's off form when Rohan Dennis beats him on a MTF.

Came in undercooked with an eye on the Tour and crashed like a numpty before the race even started has led to his current 'demise'. I reckon they thought he could hang on in the first week, have a rest in the second and hit top form for the final week. Looks like they completely misjudged it and the crash finished him off. Still think he's favourite when they all line up in July.

Dumoulin is doing what I'd expect of him to be fair.

However, very quietly Aru, the rider with the second best GT record in the field, is riding even worse than Froome. And he hasn't even crashed.

i think youre right but this is going to add extra pressure to him now, mentally as well as physically. will be interesting to see.

I reccon Doumolin might retain this one if yates TT isnt improved.

Yates has 38sec on Dumoulin, might need another 2mins so it's very much in the balance if he keeps grabbing 10s of seconds here and there.

Considering the existing competition and new riders coming through I can't see Aru as a real podium prospect in any GTs going forward.

Agreed on that, hes a not quite there guy and the new hopefuls are starting to look like the real deal. mind you i thought that about Nibali too :)

There's not many in contention with a track record of holding on in the third week of a GT or with experience of defending a GC lead. Whilst I think Sunday was the final nail in Froome's challenge I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him on the podium (and possibly finish higher than Yates) as it's not unusual to see riders have meltdowns in week 3.

Some monster stages though, Zoncolan on Saturday is going to see some major time gaps.

No team will fancy riding hard for 200km to stay away - my prediction is nothing happens tomorrow in the GC.

    I literally know nothing.

I would appreciate it all Froome doping comments could be placed in this thread, for the remainder of the race, because it looks as if some folks are going to suffering serious sour grape syndrome, after today's turn around.
Much as I enjoy putting the effort in to turn out these stage spoiler threads, I don't appreciate Johnny come lately, part time posters with one track minds turning up to pollute the posting pool.

Id rather they didnt add doping comments to this thread. Its not about doping its about the changing of the guard and the ebbing and flowing of power.

It's notable that on the two previous stages that ended on long climbs, Froome finished with the main GC group. It's the short sharp finishes that he lost time on. It's almost as if his knee has worked as a power limiter. He's fine churning out 400W for a long time, but it's been stopping him raising it to 600W for shorter efforts.

    That's a good point.
If that is the case, the remain mountain stages aren't too favourable to him.
