He was positively dangerous on that climb yesterday. I love the Giro, so pleased SKY aren’t ruining it so far.
French TV have enjoyed mocking Froome today. At one point it was mentioned that Pinot was following Froome's wheel. Some wag said "he'd better move of that quickly before Froome knocks him off"
Dutch make that joke most days tbf.
Belgians often comment on his “unusual” style.
Pundits refer to it as the “postman” style.0 -

Why? I would say the vast majority of fans, outside of the team sky fan club, don't want him to win because they do not believe he should be competing until his doping case is concluded.
And tbh i think it's a bit insulting to Yates and Dumoulin, and all those ahead of Froome, that everyone seems to be assuming Froome is just out of shape, rather than they are riding superbly and have made a step up.0 -
Tall trees catch a lot of wind.
He’s won four Tours. There little left to prove, other than perhaps trying to win the least controllable GT but it’s not the most prestigious and maybe it just doesn’t suit him. It’s a sport for horses for courses.0 -
inseine wrote:Getting beaten by Dennis seems to suggest he's injured. I just can't see him being so far off the pace otherwise. I guess he'll either recover or pack it in.
He's got a rest day, but then a couple of lumpy stages before any easier days
He had a complete blow up yesterday, which is unusual for Froome. In the last 500m riders were coming past him like he was standing still.
He is a stubborn character so I wouldn't be surprised if he wants to ride all the way to Rome. That would weaken his Tour bid though.0 -

As for your second point, he was 23rd on the stage yesterday. I don't think 22 riders have all made the step up simultaneouslyTwitter: @RichN950 -

So what. The way people are going on about him you would think he is the only rider in the sport!
Whilst i understand that a few people see him as some type of god, but regardless of his past successes, it is wrong to undermine the performances of yates and chavas by just rambling on about Froome.0 -

you could pick any cyclist and if the you went after them the same way they have went after Froome you'd find they are all dodgy, you either except what the sport is or you move on and say its not for me..0 -

It's funny how often the forum calls a race too early.
My prediction.
If he's still in the main group after 21km tomorrow he'll finish the Giro on the podium

Mildly amusing at first, five years on, not so much. Aru and Martin are equally 'untidy' riders but get a free pass off most.2020/2021/2022 Metric Century Challenge Winner0 -

but it came the day after he fell off when no one else did and was banging into people unintentionally. After 5 years he should be a little better0 -
I think if the stage were shorter there would be the opportunity for GC attacks from the gun and Chris could get some back.
I honestly have no idea which way tomorrows going to go0 -
No team will fancy riding hard for 200km to stay away - my prediction is nothing happens tomorrow in the GC.0

Yeah, its worthy of comment and speculation, clearly 'something' is not right. However, playing tired out jokes rather than talking about 'what is' is a bit lazy, not really a problem as such, but not really 'funny'. Is it?2020/2021/2022 Metric Century Challenge Winner0 -
It is a shame how the sport has found itself and how we view it in 2018 that there are 6 pages on the 'downfall' of Froome and only a couple of posts on the rise of S Yates.0

Seems like a pretty fair interview. Theres a thing out on the internet somewhere where he's followed around for a few days and goes to look at Zoncolan. He seems like a pretty cool guy, I hope he can make a really good fight back.0 -

Vino’sGhost, who when caught dancing on Froome’s grave would now say “I was remembering a tune I heard in a discotheque and then accidentally strayed into the cemetery and tripped over the sadly departed’s head stone: what are the chances?! Lovely fella, sorely missed...”0
