I totally agree it is absolute nonsense and that Russia lies about this stuff, but as this is a thread about Britain’s response to Russia it is valid to post what they are saying about the U.K. I posted the Russian quote not to “do their dirty work” but to show how ridiculous and desperate they are.

Russia is not desperate - just angry. Putin may be ridiculous and in context so is Trump and Boris, Kim Jong Un and the leaders of most African States. Not forgetting some fat Germans, the one in scotland, Ireland Spain and quite a few in quite a few Royal families.

But no-one on an internet forum of course.

Might as well post a bunch of flat earther nonesense.
Context, debating point if that’s what the Russians are putting is it not worth hearing and refuting? Are you worried you might start to believe it or something? Just because the Russians are putting out fake news, hiding from the fact that they are doing it serves no purpose whatsoever. But hey, if you feel that pretending it isn’t happening means it will all go away then maybe Internet forums aren’t the place for you.

    It is absolute nonesense.

We know Russia flat out lies about this stuff. They say it anyway to sow seeds of doubt.

They know the lazy way to achieve “balance” is to parrot both sides and just leave the statements there hanging, as if they are equals.

Don’t do their dirty work for them.

Many, many people say Trump is the bigger liar. Obviously his are good lies, white lies matter.

Pretty sure Trump has his own thread. You can find lots of criticism of him there. This being a thread about the British response to the Salisbury Novichok incident, criticism of Trump is less relevant. You're free to start a Top 10 Greatest Liars of all Time thread if you want.

The timing of this latest thing near Salisbury is so obvious, after last night Putin is running scared England are going to spoil their world cup dream and are trying to force us to withdraw from the tournament in protest. If I were a Russian emigré I'd be going into hiding if we beat Sweden. How's that?

My guess is the Russians now either claim a) these were the people who carried out the previous attack and somehow contaminated themselves or b) there's a leak from Porton Down. Unless these two have somehow crossed the Russians maybe they have just be poisoned to throw doubt on the original case (I like conspiracy theories!).

i think Trump needs to show solidarity with the UK and visit Salisbury when he's over here! or perhaps he'll just meet with Pukin and hand him Crimea.

To pop my own tinfoil hat on for a moment, it does seem far too coincidental that both of these incidents happened within spitting distance of the UK Governments own chemical warfare research installation at Porton Down, one with quite the sordid history. Strikes me a problem-reaction-solution type scenario to get support for action against Russia.

Our own government likes conspiracy theories. They are a disgrace. Why do we spend so much on GCHQ? We have the best spies IN THE WORLD, wonderful spies but they don't know what's going on? It's Insane.

Trump to speak to his friend Vlad about it 16 July. He will give us the TRUTH!

Our spies are far too busy looking at their phones - Facebook, Snapchat, Tinder and Spy Forums to actually be out doing any "spying"

Siri: not again Gavin. Pants, socks, shirt, then trousers. How many more times do you need me to tell you?
    Gavin: thanks Siri. Speak soon.

can a legal chappy explain to me why this is murder and not manslaughter?

Because national security requires it to be so treated. (I am not a legal 'chappy' but it stands to reason, dunnit?)

from watching too much TV I thought murder was a pre-meditated killing. Unless there is something we don't know about the victim then this does not appear to be murder.

The enquiry is a murder enquiry and it is unlikely that the crime is murder.

The enquiry is a murder enquiry and it is unlikely that the crime is murder.

so it is just a technical way of getting more resource for the enquiry?
