TdF prep innit.
meh, not sure GT needs to experience the cobbles prior to the TDF - he's done them plenty. Aru / Dan Martin types, then yes.
Mind you, GT would likely finish higher in P-R than he will on the TdF GC.0 -

First one - fine
Second one - ...
Third one - hmmm, yeah ok
(I had assumed it was about the guns with regard to the recent shooting, but I ve got to the point with those now where I just think, "sorry America, that's your own problem" now...We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

For gawd sake you lot, give it a rest.
It's Belgian and the wrong sport, so nothing the BBC can do about that.
Far more important things just around the corner, to think about, such as this:-
Is this the first showing on Eurosport?
A pity they have only scheduled half the coverage, so only half the hellingen.
But the finale of this year's Omloop Het Nieuwsblad looks more like past Ronde van Vlaanderen, scaling the Muur and the Bosberg and finishing in Meerbeke."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
Quickstep putting out a rubbish team as usual:
Dries Devenyns (BEL)
Fernando Gaviria Rendon (COL)
Philippe Gilbert (BEL)
Iljo Keisse (BEL)
Yves Lampaert (BEL)
Zdenek Stybar (CZE)
Niki Terpstra (NED)Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0 -
Seems they're putting a lot on the Muur Bosberg finish.
Molenberg will still be key even in Tommeke's abscence0 -
The weekends profiles:-
The big semis...
....and the semi semis.

You have to wonder.....
I have everything crossed that the UCI don't have to bring their severe weather protocol into play.
Sunday especially looks a bit nippy, to say the least."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

Great news0 -
Watching people try to race with a load of extra kit on compared to usual makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. Or at least brings back some rather painful memories of early season (and occasionally late April) racing0

Shot in the dark- anyone any idea if KBK is shown on tv in India? Better still a bar/cafe in Pune?
Suspect I'll be in the hotel on Steephill0 -

He's a bit heavy for the Muur/Bosberg double I'd think.0 -

He's not racing it either, which is probably a bigger impediment.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -

So he wants to win a monument this year then! Interesting stuff0 -
Next up, tomorrow afternoon and weather permitting, we have arguably the best cobbles race of last season: Le Samyn
Wind and rain wore down the peloton, with echelons a plenty, before the muddy and slick paveleft just final duel between Guillaume van Keirsbulck and newcomer Alex Kirsch to be played out to the point of total exhaustion.
This year, Quick Step are sending a very strong team that includes Gilbert, Terpstra and Stybar. There are plenty of other cobbles specialists among the remaining teams.
Eurosport have live coverage from 2-30pm GMT.

Striking lecturers and snow have combined in a perfect storm to give me the day off too. Hallelujiah0

A very good race. Conditions will be horrible for the poor b*ggers riding today. It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0

Organisers confirm that both races will go ahead, despite sub zero temperatures all day and a biting 30kph blast from the NE.

Arggghhh Kirby.0

It's pretty good - Gilbert and Terpstra (and Gaudin) up the road, with a group consisting of van kirsbuilck and kirsch, van der sande etc chasing.
Gaudin is getting savaged, Gilbert and Terpstra taking it in turns to do him over.0 -
Done and dusted early this year.
Gaudin done by the QS 1-2 and the rest left chasing minor placings.
Meanwhile, Kirby has talked an awful lot, but commentated very little, as per."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0
