GP de Fourmies / La Voix du Nord 1.HC

As it all started to come back together, three riders attacked and have a small 15s lead at 17km, Cosnefroy (ALM), Gaudu (Groupama FDJ) and Journiaux (DE)

GP de Fourmies / La Voix du Nord 1.HC

Doomed attacks by Cosnefroy, Gaudu and Canola all came to nothing in the final kms. A sprint finish was on the cards with Groupama FDJ, QuickStep and Bora working at the front of the peleton. Demare attacked but Ackermann came off his wheel to take his second win this weekend. Ackermann looks really pleased with his win and so he should be.

    1. Pascal Ackermann (Bora Hansgrohe)
    2. Arnaud Demare (Groupama FDJ)
    3. Alvaro Hodeg (Quickstep)

Haven't seen anything at all about the Canadian races to the point I thought they hadn't happened so:

Quebec 1-2-3 was Matthews, GvA and Stuyven. It also seems that Little Pete is still a pro cyclist and took the best climber.

Montreal 1-2-3 was Matthews, Colbrelli and GvA with Wellens as best climber.

Lil' Pete was very active in Quebec, was on the attack in the last 40kms, and was only caught in the final kilometre.

Good to hear. I'd been wondering recently if he was ill or injured as I've hardly heard him mentioned since he left Sky.

I'm on holiday (Kaiserstuhl) for a few weeks, so unable to keep up to date, good to know what's happening.

He made his second win in three races, today, by winning the Giro della Toscana, from Romain Bardet and Domenico Pozzovivo.
It was a mostly flat circuit, but with a flipping big climb in the middle.
On the climb during the last lap, an extremely impressive Eddie Dunbar put all bar the podium men out the rear.
The last man to get dumped from Moscon's wheel being.......................Sebastian Reichenbach. 8)

Looking forward to catching up with this...
As Valverde’s on the wane, I need a new baddie to actually really like (I mean Moscon, not Dunbar) -
I mean, he’s even got a spiv moustache! Top rotter...

Elissonde put in a sterling effort at the bottom of the climb to weaken the field and the attack by Frank did a lot of damage but the way Dunbar so comfortably covered that attack then, a short while later, was on the front shredding the remnants of the race was particularly impressive I thought. I also liked the way he managed to infiltrate and disrupt the chase.

I think flobikes have the rights in USA and are very active in getting stuff removed from youtube.

You can watch the full races here. Need to register, though.

  • Juan Jo Lobato wins the Coppa Sabatini at a canter from Sonny Colbrelli.

It all came down to the uphill sprint and there's not too many better than JJ.

Pleased for him, the business with Lotto NL at the start of the season was unpleasant

Timed his kick to perfection while the bunch was distracted by that fallen breakaway rider.

    Yup, Sonny caught sleeping there.
  • Well that Eurometropole was a fun race for hard men in awful conditions. Mads Pedersen did a gritty bridge across to the front group then out sprinted a brave but tiring Benoot in the final. A surprisingly excellent watch this afternoon!

    Binche-Chimay-Binche

    1. Danny Van Poppel (Lotto NL-Jumbo) 4 45’ 23’’
    2. Yves Lampaert (Quick Step Floors) @3s
    3. Oliver Naesen ( AG2R La Mondiale @3s)

Zdenek Stybar attacked from a small leading group at 15km and managed to hold out till he was pulled back by the peleton, led by LottoNL, just before the Flamme Rouge. Almost straight away Van Poppel attacked and managed to ride the final cobbled section strongly enough to take a well deserved win.
  • Incredible finish from DvP.

He just flew off the front and never looked like getting caught.

    Sparkassen Münsterland Giro (1.HC) 210.8km

Today’s race, taking place on German unification day, between Coesfeld and Münster, looks to be one for the sprinters. Seven WT teams participating. Likely winners from Degenkolb, Sam Bennett, Greipel, Gavira or Ackermann. Two Irish riders, Bennett and Clancy and one sole Brit, Scott Thwaites.

55km to the finish and a large group, 30/40, animated by Trek, Lotto Soudal and Bora, has a small lead over the peloton.

25km left. Large group of 30+ which includes Degenkolb, Greipel and Ackermann still has lead over peloton. Gavira and EBH trying to bridge the gap.
