After Degenkolb's Mallorca win yesterday, Tim Wellens won today ahead of Moscon and Valverde.
They'll be some moral champion observers loving Wellens taking it from those two.0 -

Agreed - wonder if he uses caffeine gels or the occasional paracetamol. If so his stance on asthma meds makes no sense.0 -
Tour of San Juan just now.
Argentine Gonzalo Najar turns back the clock to 1995 with one of the most ridiculous climbs in recent memory.
On 18kms of 4% train territory, he simply rode away from the likes of Majka and his WT mates, early on.
Won the stage by a mere 2 seconds shy of 2 minutes from, of all people, Oscar "Baby Face" Sevilla.
The rest nowhere."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
The first two are deemed too small for the small race thread0

As an aside - why doesn’t Tinkov, that bloke who sponsored Rock Racing, Bruyneel, Saiz, Ferrari and Fuentes, say, organise a stage race for teams made up of busted dopers who can still sling a varicose leg over a bike? I’m thinking quite a few would pay to see Ricco vs Rasmussen vs Contador vs Basso vs Armstrong vs Rebellin vs Sevilla vs Sayer vs Landis vs Hamilton vs Vino, etc. Give ‘em 18 months heads up, I reckon most could summon some form.0 -
They could have a right laugh with it. Drug testing done by the Moscow Lab. They could do a scene for the tv cameras after each stage where they show the sample of a named tested rider going through a hole in the wall, smiling lab assistant undoes seal and replaces contents with urine of a dog sled racer/gazelle, etc0

Nice to see Valverde’s condition has returned immediately after a mere 208 days since his crash. Another ten years from him before he’s done I’ll bet.0

I'm totally on board with this but only if the first stage is a crit around a secret island volcano lair.0 -
For those wishing to see something....................er..........really special, the last 35kms of San Juan, yesterday.

reminds me a bit of that desert mountain stage in the ToC [2013 I think] where all the WT had no acclimatisation and just faded in the heat.
what was the temp there? looks like they were cycling on Mars...bleak"If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. San Juan out echeloning Qatar by a country mile.
Serious crosswinds causing havoc in the exposed semi desert that surrounds the city.
That's all happening with 105kms to go.
Anyhow, it's going to be live until about 10-30pm by the looks.

Would imagine the odds on him to win Fleche are rather small right now.0 -
