    bad crash, Trek rider...I think.

Kiel Reijnen. Paramedics were shouting for an ambulance- hope he's alright.

Who's the Lotto rider conducting a major fashion faux pas with his arm warmers. Terrible.

That front group's pretty strong - includes Phil Gil, Matt Hayman, former winner Wallays, Debuscherre, Groenewegen etc.

Gilbert, Lampaert, Lutsenko and Durbridge (who's having a great season) are now off the front.

Durbridge has clearly stepped up to a different level to be able to hang with those guys on Paterberg

He is looking good isn't he.

Some good results as a junior/U23 and on the track though so guess it's not much of a surprise.

Phil attacks - only Durbridge can follow!!

All back together - Lampaert attacks, but not really getting anywhere (Durbridge leading the chase).

    Etixx with the numbers.

Now he's got away, Gilbert's obviously not helping with the chase so it's for Lutsenko and Durbridge, both of whom are looking a bit knackered...

2.2km and 30s lead for Lampaert, he's got this.

    1 Lampaert

    30 seconds

    2 Gilbert
    3 Lutsenko
    4 Durbridge

Hoped Durbridge's track skills would work for him in the sprint - but obviously he was shagged from getting into that group in the first place!

Well it was a different race to the usual Dwars script.
Very fast and furious, but no sort of chase coordination behind.
Mostly a domestique's payoff day, with Gilbert as the solitary guest star.

Biased, but a nice sprint by Dylan for 5th. Still seemed to have a lot left at the end of the race. Think there is more to come.

Yeah, it should really - sorry chaps...

It was a good race, I enjoyed it.

Inrng tweeted that Lampaert missed the last year's classics season because his girlfriend ran his ankle over with a shopping trolley... lol.

Quick Step get a lot of stick for being tactically bad, but they absolutely tore up DDV today.

Have to say, loving this 2017 Gilbert.

    Such fun.

Good race that. Gilbert really seemed to have taken a lot out of Durbridge on the last climb, which set up things for Lampaert to take his chance.

What are the chances of getting a re-run of Gent Wevelgem 2015 weather wise?

    Is a gale-force Gent-Bubblegum the new wet Paris-Roubaix?

    Ha.

Some complaints from Lefevre about the gravel roads - saying, fair enough for Strade, but why in G-W?

An entertaining race, for sure. That said, we're going to have to rename these races "The footpath/bike path/mud strip/rain gulley Classics" at this rate. Large sections of cobbles (both flat and climbs) were completely by-passed, not just by a small group off the front, but the whole peleton en-masse...........I can understand why, but it does dilute the spectacle a bit for me.........

You have to admit it was an amazing race though.
