Reports that two Russian rockets have hit grain dryers in Poland, killing two people.

We'renlooking at this now - could be the Russians are using stuff that is do shytethat its just point and hope snd they have no real idea where its going, massive incompetence or they're kicking off on Poland.

Most probs a combo of 1 & 2 tbh. They're stupid but not stupid enough for 3.
A reminder that they shot down a foreign airliner and just shrugged and said "wasn't us". Not sure I'd rule it out.
Done it already. Deliberate provocation by Poland.

Just to put it into context gents, Putin currently has more troops standing around at the Ukraine border than the British Army has working rifles.

Somebody up above said Britain should put a 15,000 strong armoured battle group there - these numbers do not exist. You could problly stick 500 blokes, 4 Challies and a Rover there, but 15,000 strong armoured? Stuff of gammon dreams.

Someone's been reading too much Rod Little.

I wonder how this and all your posts about the West capability against the Ivan’s stand up these days.

I haven't searched back but I seem to remember Matt did say Russian numbers weren't enough to take and hold Ukraine.

Was thinking about that a few days ago but think the point was more about how badly the UK forces are resourced rather than the Russians being any good (and the delusion among flag wavers that we are a top military power). No idea how true that is but it does feel like we have a well trained, professional military who are poorly equipped from various reports over the years.

However it would seem some of our equipment is being used by the Ukrainians so it can’t be that sh*t.
I just wonder if MF views on the military are like his views on club cyclists and Ultegra.

To be fair I'm sure we've all heard stories about UK soldiers being less well equipped than they would like

sorry - trying to work out what you're trying to say.

are you saying that the british military isn't massively under manned, under trained, under equipped, using crapstuff with v little reserves, living in awful accomodation?

    in which case you're wrong.

or are you trying to make another point?

they've given them some LAWS, Mastiffs, Bulldogs and arty with a few other bits

The Ukranians said no thankyou to our boots, uniforms, rifles, Land Rovers, etc. You know, the stuff you use every day that you rely on.

Tbh, we don't even use the SA80s if we we get a chance.

The geeks were well ahead of the game re these missiles. By 21:30 ish last night, while the world's media were going apesh1t, the open-source lot had already identified from the bits of missile posted online that it was an S300 SAM which could only have been fired from Ukraine (short fuel load for one purpose - shooting other stuff down). It was just a tragic accident.

Both sides use that system, as most likely also do Belarus. But although it isn't clear cut, this is what the story has to be anyway.

Well aware of that, but the most widely used S300 only has a max 100km range, and these landed over the border from Lviv where there will be S300s deployed by the UF.

My money is firmly on an accident.

Given the number of incoming missiles, it wouldn't be surprising that the Ukrainians were also putting a lot of explosive stuff up into the air too.
  • That's it pretty much confirmed now. A UF S300 that accidently ended up in Poland.

Pork pies straight outa the fridge are a crime against humanity, and I eat them a few times a week at least.

Gotta let them come up to room temperature and sweat a little.
