I am assuming you have heard of Dunkirk so would recommend a brief Google to check which war Falaise was in.ddraver said:

Read an American source if you want an eye opening different opinion of Montgomery
We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

It's quite impressive that his imagery still manages to capture the imagination and headlines.0 -
are any of these sites giving estimates of how many soldiers and how much equipment was left behind?briantrumpet said:0 -
If we have any US constitutional experts of here could somebody tell us whether Trump getting in will mean game over for Ukraine and if so how quickly?0

It's looking more likely that the classified documents case is a slam dunk (the laws are really clear-cut), especially with new evidence revealed... but whether the DoJ have the guts to charge him remains to be seen...

I really hope they have the testicles to actually prosecute the orange buffoon0

that does seem to be the best hope of stopping him.briantrumpet said:It's looking more likely that the classified documents case is a slam dunk (the laws are really clear-cut), especially with new evidence revealed... but whether the DoJ have the guts to charge him remains to be seen...
But if he does get in am I right in thinking he has the autonomy to turn off the taps to Ukraine?0 -
Soldiers no, but Oryx will be in for a few sleepless nights updating the running total of Russian losses - which is now MASSIVE:surrey_commuter said:

It makes sense to me that degrading/destroying Russia's fighting capability is as if not more important as the territorial gains; it's no use driving Russia out, only to have them re-group and try again in 5 years.
They need to properly whack them so that Russia really is unable to for a long time.
That's also in all our interests, though maybe not if you live on a borderland country where Russia has acted as peace-keeper....0 -

No idea really, but depending on who's got the Senate & House, it could get chewy if he did try to take a unilateral decision on a matter of international security against the wishes of one or other of the elected bodies. I'm still not sure how it all works over there. Mind you, I'm not sure they do either.0 -

Literally never seen the word 'commingled' before.
Not sure where I've come across it before, maybe in chemistry, but it's been around since the 17th century... anyway, not one I'd use in everyday conversation, but a nice one, all the same.0 -
Sorry, you'll realise that the Trump thing was supposed to be in his own thread, even if it's not entirely irrelevant here given past events and the tendency of the Republicans now to admire Putin and favour Russia over Ukraine.0

Most probs a combo of 1 & 2 tbh. They're stupid but not stupid enough for 3..The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

Be interesting to see what the reaction of Poland and NATO is. Are they willing to give Putin the benefit of the doubt?
Perhaps this time, but not next?0 -
Yep, this could get interesting...

A reminder that they shot down a foreign airliner and just shrugged and said "wasn't us". Not sure I'd rule it out.MattFalle said:.

Related to this, I think Bellingcat have identified most of the Russian team working on targeting the rockets. Delightful bunch.

Moldova has power cuts as well.
I am wondering how far the tipping point is for China.
Bringing NATO into it isn't going to help exports is it, President Xi?0 -
Officil line is that it was an accident but things may get tasty behind the scenes tbh.
