  • The UF are coming across the T62s now. They must have been deployed to Kherson earlier in the summer. Surely it's only a matter of time before the T-55 gets unleashed by Ivan (from military museums).

I get the feeling that sources are only just keeping up with how things are moving... perhaps a combination of that and Kyiv not bragging too quickly about stuff that's ongoing.

Exactly that. The UF also seem to be adopting a rapid, highly mobile assault tactic to confuse and tie up Ivan, then the heavier stuff moves in behind. So the former are well ahead by the time everyone catches up with the movements.

I think it also suggests a confidence behind how it's going now... in the early days they needed a constant drip of positive news, even as Ivan was advancing - all the OSINT tweets about individual Russian losses - but now it's on such a scale, they can just wait for news of the major advances and recaptures of towns. Keeping fingers crossed, anyway.

The analysis I read was that the Russians have had to concentrate their forces in the built up areas, and UKAF was probing the weak spots between them and the Russians don't have the reserves to plug the gaps there, so the UKAF can hit those areas fast and light and then surround the bulk of the forces and deal with them that way.
  • Presumably they also have the supply chains in place to continue to support the advances as they are supported by the towns and people they recapture.
  • They don't seem to be having any supply issues so far. The Russians aren't able to do much damage to Ukrainian rearward areas due to lack of anything remotely accurate in terms of weapons, and I suspect their intel is not existent now.

Judging from all the videos of UAF guys on their mobiles at various times, it seems they have pretty good electronic warfare defences...

So there are lots of videos of groups of UAF guys all making videos on their phone at the same time - quite a few apparently just before battle.

The stories I saw are that on the Russian side, the second they turn their phones on they get incoming UAF artillery or other attacks.

Hence UAF guys coming across things like this:

Other people who know about this stuff have suggested that the fact the UAF guys can be so relaxed re mobiles suggests they are confident they are well protected by the electronic warfare guys.
  • The UF artillery are also getting their target coordinates sent to them via text on encrypted mobile phones.

Russian attacks not exactly going to plan either... well, not sure that there really is a plan at this stage, other than going in with "Boom, boom....what happens next, comrade?" BOOOOOM!! That's what, it seems.

  • Mighty Russian Army are advancing backwards.

Musk Tweet is a bit weird as I would have thought there’s a large crossover between people with a social conscience who support Ukraine and people with a social conscience who would consider changing to an EV. Instead he gets support from people who probably drive around in 6.0 litre muscle cars and pick up trucks.

He's an extremely wealthy businessman who is good at selling expensive cars that happen to be electric. I suspect that the people who admire him as a businessman aren't all bunny huggers, even if many of his customers are.

Remember when Apple was the underdog-outsider, and Microsoft/Bill Gates were the evil ones? They used that image for a long time to screw their customers. I think Musk is doing the same.

A cynic would say Tesla is reliant on Russian mineral exports for its batteries, and the sudden u-turn from not buying twitter to making pro Putin statements and suddenly feeling the need to buy twitter might be related.

One of Musk's great successes is in managing to persuade the more right leaning Americans that you can drive an electric car without being a liberal.

    He's also a bit of a tool.

Come on you bunch of cave dwellers. He's managed to design and make the first commercial reusable rocket and take human's into space with it! Make the first viable production EV road car, also Starlink has been proven to work and viable even on boats/yachts!

Give the bloke some credit for advancing Humanity.

Also, this $h1t about minerals and twitter. Wasn't Musk the one who willingly took the risk against the wrath of Putin to give the Ukrainians Starlink.

At least do a bit of research or something, rather than tap away randomly on a keyboard, for gawd sake!

i see the saudis/opec are going ahead and colluding with putin to drive up oil prices

great to see how thankful the opec nations are for the west going to war for them against iraq (twice), suppressing iran, selling them stuff to torture, maim and kill their own subjects and others, often with lucrative kickbacks

still we seem unwilling to sanction them, whatever could be the reason

    Yeah mate,

Built a rocket and sent some blokes to space (also reusable), built an electric car which are now used around the world with their own charging network and launch a load of satellites into space so the internet can even be used at sea with a fast connection.

Like I've said before, the rest is just waffle. Just be thankful of his contribution to humanity.

You've designed jack all. He put his own cash behind a star shot and through hard work and genius it paid off. Three years he slept on the shop floor with the model three's production.

I will not stand to have greatness disparaged.
