Same with the son of a former colleague - well he's convinced that's what made the difference anyway.johngti said:
A friend of mine would have lost his leg if it wasn’t for manuka honey. Wound got infected/bit of gangrene/massive worry. Leg got coated in the stuff and healed nicely.MattFalle said:Seriously - honey is the way forward for minor bits: small cuts, insect bites, grazes, etc.
Natural, healing, works utterly brilliantly as an antiseptic.
Use it all the time as its mega cannelloni.
Naturally medical stuff not out of a jar from Sainsburys......
So a definite +1 here.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0 -

It's looking more and more likely that the UF have near enough completely encircled thousands of Ivans and DPR in Lyman and the surrounding area this morning.0

On a slightly different note, our Ukrainian house guest landed on Wednesday and is settling in pretty well. Her English is a bit hit and miss but those translation apps come in quite handy."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]6

Well done Stevo. Fair play.2

Nice one. Ours have been here for a few months now. I don't see them as they are in the flat above my wife's work.

For the chat of “oh Russia will treat this now as an act of war on Russian soil” within a day of the annexation attempt they lose a town they tried to annex. Lol0
-
The further the Ukraine army pushes into the annexed areas, any use of nukes against them would be nuking what Putin claims is Russian soil. Whoops.
And plenty of other issues for Putin even if he wants to go down this route:

From what I’ve picked up via various analysts etc, the target would be Kyiv, not the actual battle fronts.0

can't see a first strike on a major population centre
even with 'only' a tactical weapon, that would surely demand signifiant conventional retaliation by the west, with the risk of rapid escalation
airburst over an 'empty' area would be more likely, that would demonstrate that the chain of command has obeyed, thereby irrevocably committing itself to putin and with the clear inference they'll go further, while leaving the west in a position where it may be hard to gain support for any significant retaliation

I just can't start to imagine what it would unleash if Putin killed thousands in Kyiv. I think I'd rather not consider that, though I realise that the US and NATO, in particular, will have to.0

I very much doubt it’ll be a ‘warning shot’. There are also suggestions it might be a major distribution point of Western military aid.0

This comes back to the exit ramp doesn't it. Right now the only option is escalation, until there's a change within Russia. That will only happen after very-bad-things elsewhere, or so it appears.Stevo_666 said:

Yeah, I saw a twitter thread last night where some of the Russians were using Telegram asking how to get hold of air command as they needed air defence quickly.0 -
The press are being kept well away from the front and the UF are keeping fairly quiet on what's actually been achieved for now, but it does look like they're sweeping down the bank of Dnipro at great pace. Ivan has no bridges to retreat over thanks to HIMARS, and anything pontoon they build gets attacked.0

Can't not link a Twitter thread for this war...

Do we think they will stop at theh Dnipro and switch forces to the coast? Crossing the river will be hazardous but only get harder if they pause.thegreatdivide said:The press are being kept well away from the front and the UF are keeping fairly quiet on what's actually been achieved for now, but it does look like they're sweeping down the bank of Dnipro at great pace. They just keep pulling surprises, so who knows what's next, but if they push all the way down the Dnipro to Kherson city they're going to capture a huge area and god knows how much equipment and men - although the latter will no doubt try and get over the river. Or they might give up!surrey_commuter said:
