Now that would be good.
I do wonder how quickly the Russian ground troops would become demoralised were the Ukrainians to make rapid (re)gains. Would Putin be able to stomach admitting defeat in his mission, as it's hard to see how he could dress up a tactical withdrawal as anything positive, given his stated objectives.
Too much to hope for a faulty window catch in the Kremlin I suppose.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0 -
If he gets ousted the replacements will likely be more hardline, so it’s not the panacea we all hope it’ll be.
Best we can all hope for is Ukraine inflicting the mother of all defeats on Russia.0 -

City of Kupyansk also taken last night.
The amount of equipment being abandoned by Ivan the C*nt is astonishing. The very latest radar has been dumped intact.
Looks like there are lots of 'Putin's rented beardy troops stuck in pockets too. That lot wont be going home alive that's for sure.0 -
if putin gets snuffed, i'd expect a struggle between his lieutenants to succeed him, corrupt fascists aren't renowned for cooperation and orderly transitions of powerrick_chasey said:If he gets ousted the replacements will likely be more hardline, so it’s not the panacea we all hope it’ll be.

if they start killing each other, the military may decide to take control and mop up the rest
as the ones paying the price for putin's fantasies of empire, the military might be more pragmatic about extricating themselves from the mess he's created
but putin and his cronies spent years tearing down freedom and the rule of law, moving russia ever closer to the chinese model while lining their pockets, can't see that being undone for a long time

Now the reporting / posting embargo is over there's an avalanche of footage appearing.
The Russian's have totally run away - it's mental!1 -
Ah, all part of a plan, obvs. Not a panicked retreat at all.

Scenes like that all over Twitter. They're fleeing and leaving all their vehicles behind. It's not a tactical retreat. It's a f*ck this for a laugh.0 -
Reminds me of the old Argentine army saying during the Falkland conflict: 'Don't count your chickens before they desert'.Pross said:Need a remake of Monty Python’s Brave Sir Robin.

Re that video posted above - the number of tanks and vehicles abandoned on that road is EVEN BIGGER!

Looks like some sort of tank graveyard. No wonder Putin is ratcheting up the energy rhetoric, seems even he must have some inking that not all is going swimmingly on the front line.thegreatdivide said:

Press getting quite bullish about the situation:

And even some of the partisan Russian military bloggers are now turning turning on Putin:

If Putin gets backed into a corner and gets a bit emotionally nukey, would the Russian people make a stand?0

Ben Hodges has been consistently on the money with his analysis and predictions throughout this conflict. He’s a regular on The Context on BBC News. Good summary here:

Another day, another massive pile of destroyed or abandoned vehicles. The Oryx guys that keep a tally of losses confirmed (so far) that ley lost at least 102 vehicles in 24hrs, including 24 tanks. To put that into perspective, that's pretty much 50% of the tanks in service in the Austrian army.
Oryx added that to their ongoing tally - Russia is now visually confirmed to have lost 5800 vehicles, aircraft, helicopters and ships. Of that, they have lost 1073 tanks (at least 334 of them are now in use with the UF!). God knows how many men they have lost in this pointless invasion.
Here are some new pictures of yet another road filled with abandoned or destroyed vehicles in retreat. It's astonishing:
