The second worst job you want in the Russian army right now is a supply truck driver (the first is deffo the commander, soon to be cosmonaut of a tank). The UF are back to their ways with consistent convoy bother.

I won't share the footage of Pavel getting into the truck and asking Dmitriy to stick on Absolute 80's just as an AT missile hits them. It's on Twatter if you need to see it. Any bets Talk Talk's 'Life's What You Make It' was playing when it hit.0

Couldn't work out if they are only scrapping the upper age limit. Lower age limit could end up with them breaching yet another international law but I doubt that will bother them.MattFalle said:Well, this isn't going to go badly wrong, is it?

Upper. 50 year old's can drive supply trucks and get picked off by Ukrainians just as well as 30 year old's. Seems also to be about the repair/maintenance support back in the mother land.0

I'm no military strategist but wouldn't those skilled operators have been more use before half of the Russian equipment was towed away by Ukrainian farmers? For the use of high-precision weapons, the operation of weapons and military equipment, highly professional specialists are needed. Experience shows that they become such by the age of 40-45,0

Anyone can drive a truck or repair it - its why there are billions of 18 year old Sappers and Loggies cutting round in huge trucks and REME really badly repairing broken Landies.
The thinking is that they get essential experienced middle managent troops back in - those with command/leadership and combat experience because the youngsters haven't got any of this.
They want fellas who have done Afghan/Mali/Chechnya etc.
Problem is, all these fellas are either disinterested, broken, not interested in this scrap or have had enough.
If they still wanted a scrap they would already be in Wagner/La Legion so unavailable.
Young, fit, motivated, now experienced UF lads with better morale, equipment and who know whats going on are gonna smash them.
Interestingly, its exactly the same problem as the British Army has. Falling numbers, no experience..The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

I have no idea. Was just referring to the BBC article. I'm amazed how all other commentators' analysis is so consistently wrong though, MF.MattFalle said:

So it seems one of Russia's TV reporters gave away the location of major 240mm mobile heavy mortar during one of his broadcasts. The Internet sleuths geo located its whereabouts and the UF blew it up. Ivan is a f*ckwit.

Video footage has emerged of concertgoers in St Petersburg, Russia, chanting an anti-war message to protest Russian President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine.
The video, shared on Twitter by the Russian opposition politician Lubov Sobol, shows a large crowd chanting in unison.
The concertgoers can be heard shouting "fuck the war" repeatedly in Russian, referring to the ongoing offensive in Ukraine.

Looks like there’s some planning underway to try and get grain out of Odessa via a coalition of non NATO countries (N Africa, Middle East, Asia). It would be a non-military humanitarian mission but shepherded by global naval power.

The BBC is sounding a note of pessimism:
Ukraine war: 'This is just the beginning, everything is still to come'
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-61570444
..but from George Soros you get the complete ensemble:
"George Soros: Ukraine conflict could become Third World War and end civilisation"
"Even when the fighting stops, as it eventually must, the situation will never revert to where it was before. Other issues that concern all of humanity – fighting pandemics and climate change, avoiding nuclear war, maintaining global institutions – have had to take a back seat to that struggle and that's why I say civilisation may not survive.”

There seems to be a theme here. I won't say all, but some more senior of the species seem to be eyeing up a stairway to something.0 -

I have no particular axe to grind with Mr Soros, but as someone who is basically just a hedge fund manager and wealthy philanthropist, he is probably no more qualified to comment on long-term geopolitics and the survival of the species than I am...HilaryAmin said:

The difference being that because I am not quite as loaded as he is, I don't get a platform on the BBC...
