It could equally be argued that Putin was emboldened by no open support for Ukraine after the Crimea invasion.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

That's a very long article with no explanation, have you been taking tip from Rick? ;)

For some reason I can't see the bit that answers my question above about your claim that Boris forced all citizens of a non-EU country to leave the UK. Can you quote the relevant part?
Since Russia invaded Crimea the UK Govt has refused to sell arms to Ukraine. As FS and PM Boris was central to that policy since 2016.
Genuine question: When did the UK start training Ukranian troops?

Not that I am remotely an apologist for this government, but is there a diplomatic reason not to sell arms, in order to not further antagonise Russia at the time, who seemed to have stopped progressing their invasion?
In the Times article referenced above it says about to weeks before the current invasion.

It is no secret it is all in speeches and appearances before select committees.

I get the bit about not antagonising the Russians but that does not fit the narrative of Boris being a long-term staunch ally.
Thanks. For some reason in my head I had it as way longer than that.

Agree about the Boris-Russia ally - I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt.

Not sure how that is relevant to my question.

The odds aren’t good, but surely better than Trump’s chances of returning to power in 2024?

Unless he's in prison, Trump will be Rep nomination and v v v difficult to beat with Electoral College system and current changes in voting legislation being enacted by the Reps.

Dems are going to have to work v v v hard to win in '24

Indeed. Unless one of the courts manage to get him on criminal charges, he's got the GOP by the sphericals, and red states are taking control of the electoral process wherever they can. It's not going to be pretty.

I'd pick Trump being president over Putin still being around as a bet.
    I'd rather neither.

the only saving grace is that apart from the coke head son, the rest have realised that furthering their political ambitions is just opening them up to litigation, so they sre going to stick to behind the scenes manouvering snd grifting.

the coke head one is just too stupid to realise this.

A leader like Putin with declining health can be very danagerous. So if he is still around in 2 years, I would much rather have Trump in the whitehouse as he is probably the only world leader which could talk Putin down from all out war, if it came to that.

Of course more sensible people in Russia could use his health to take power from Putin, come back to the table and start withdrawing troops, thereby allowing the west to start opening up relations/trade with Russia.
