Are they the ones who go in, identify excess photocopying costs, and that by working twice as hard you can save on half the staff? Or are you talking about the ones who go in and find a way to justify the decisions that have already been made?rick_chasey said:

Does "consulting" have a particular meaning in your mind?rick_chasey said:Speaking to some Germans in the consulting biz. There has been a lot of people let go as a result of the war.
She made the point that almost all of the main industries in Germany are very energy intensive.
Hadn’t thought of it like that.
Anyway, I hadn't factored that the economy of Germany was by nature more energy intensive so they are more exposed to energy prices compared to the more heavily service orientated UK, which explains a bit more why there is so much reticence over there about cutting off Russian Oil & Gas exports.
We are too small to warrant consultants of that nature. But we did spend a little more than necessary (I.e. more than nothing) to rearrange the offices to make them covid safe. You'd think a bunch of PhDs would trust themselves to use a tape measure, but hey, box needed ticking.
People study organisational behaviour like this, you know. Is actually quite interesting.
Dodge the phlegm, I'd advise.1 -
Looks like the flagship for the Russian Black Sea fleet has been sunk by the Ukrainians. The same boat that got told to go f@ck itself at the start.0

And some evidence that most Russians do support the war.

Seems to be being confirmed to varying degrees by official Russian sources, though this seems the most specific:

I'm reading reports that this is the biggest naval loss since the Falklands or even before - possibly 500 lives lost?[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0

Apparently the ammo started "cooking off" after it was hit, which is not good if you're on the boat.DeVlaeminck said:I'm reading reports that this is the biggest naval loss since the Falklands or even before - possibly 500 lives lost?

Someone needs to tell Florence that significantly more than 1.77% of Russia is in Asia!1

Shake it out of the old twitter machine, it's remarkable the information that can be learnt.0

Russia is interesting because whatever Florence's tweet implies, about 3/4 of Russians do live in Europe and I would guess their culture and history is more European than Asian. Just why is it that over 100 years since their revolution democracy has never really taken a firm foothold ?
Not a fan of Putin at all - I can't fathom how someone can give orders to launch an offensive campaign that kills tens or hundreds of thousands - but he did make some moves towards the West early in his "reign" and apparently feels Russia was rebuffed - a failure of long term strategy/diplomacy on the West's part? Question rather than statement.

I can't decide whether Putin's initial question of joining NATO was really just about destroying it from within. His cronies sit on all the other bodies such as the UN just bare faced lying so cant imagine Russia in NATO.0

1. The leaders don't permit it.
2. He saw the west as weak that would do nothing against the "might" of Russia. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Interesting that Germany is stalling on delivering heavy arms to Ukraine despite widespread support for doing so amongst voters of all parties except the AfD.
