Annoying - that was definitely pointing upwards when I took it...

See upthread - BR's annoying platform. If you rotate it in software round 360° and resave it, it should display properly here. Something to do with the EXIF info in the photo, I think.

The rain cleared and clouds broke up just enough to capture a sunset whilst on a site visit last night

The wife seems to have gone into Brian mode today. The detail on this is incredible, taken on an iPhone. Hopefully this site will do it justice.

Not really then - on the original you can see the pattern on the wings and hairs on its legs clearly.

I think the max photo height on BR hosting is 335 pixels, so you're not going to see many hairs on a bee that way.

A buff tip moth. I knew I'd photographed a couple. Here's the Topsham one.

Wow, that does a better stick impersonation than a stick insect.

After my coastal waves shot last night, I went to use the camera this morning, no shutter release when pressing the button. Seawater+ no sealing?
Anyway, got out the precision screwdrivers, opened the case and began stripping (the camera). Screen out, various ribbon cables removed, top case opened, circuit board out. I suspected the shutter release micro-switch was at fault, so gave it a good spray of contact cleaner.
Reassembled, good news, camera boots up. Bad news, shutter release only working 1 in 5 presses.
Go through the whole process again and again………. No improvement! Frustration increasing, hand tremors increasing.
Final time, I stripped the switch of a tiny protective cover, like removing a cataract, I’d imagine. I put a drop of white vinegar inside the switch, left it for 30mins to dissolve any corrosion, then blasted out with contact cleaner.
Hurrrah, all seems well! And the sun has come out.
If it fails again, I’m going to use it as a tripod camera with a shutter release cable.

Nightmare. I'd not have the courage to dive inside my HX-50s & HX-60. Their weakness seems to be the mechanism that covers the lens in its retracted state... eventually it just gets sticky or worn out. I've also had a problem with the booting up (eventually) on one. Mind you, I do seem to end up dropping them sooner or later on hard surfaces from a great height...

Sunset at Llandegfedd Reservoir last night. The sun sets behind the hill unfortunately but managed to get decent colours I think. Would have done something with a longer exposure but didn't have my tripod and the ones I tried resting the camera on the dam wall were a bit shaky.

Sunsets seem to be hit and miss on the Sony, colour-wise (very often they come out waaaay bluer than they actually were), but I always shoot them in HDR, so there's actually enough info in there to adjust back at base. This was light night's finished result...

I really dislike the ones where the camera artificially turns everything a dark golden colour because one's shooting directly at the sun... nothing like what one actually has witnessed.

My Hinkley Point one the other night was pretty good for capturing the colours I saw albeit the foreground was very dark. I did increase the temperature on that one last night to give it a bit more colour as the hill was so dark and shaded

Try adjusting the white balance setting.
You should be able to make the shot warmer or cooler according to taste.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

I had a bit of fun playing with macro, light and colour on the afternoon stroll... very bad form, I'm not going to choose just one, and the last one is a slight technical fail on the focus, the the colours in macro are so lovely, you're going to get it anyway (and you'll only really see the fail if you right click and view full size).

We have some of those in the garden courtesy of birds I guess as we didn't plant them.

Didn't quite get the reflections I would have liked, but rather summed up today... going for moody Ben look... though not abstract enough.
