That would explain the jam/cream mistake.
Cream first, then the jam. The cream is in place of butter, and you'd never put jam on your toast first, followed by the butter.
If there is ever a Devon/Cornwall war, this would be the reason.0 -
You can't see the cream under the Jam also so I can ensure upsetting everyone equallybriantrumpet said:Tashman said:

Logic dictates that the densest component goes on first so it wholly depends on the consistency of the cream and jam. Runny jam goes on top, thick jam goes underneath.briantrumpet said:Tashman said:

Just don't bother with the jam and put some extra clotted cream on it.0

If the jam is thicker than proper clotted cream, it would be better used as some sort of colourful building material.0 -
This. The debate is had by people who don't appreciate that they are both wrong.Pross said:Just don't bother with the jam and put some extra clotted cream on it.

I've had both versions of clotted cream while in Devon, from smooth to very thick.briantrumpet said:pblakeney said:

The hardest to deal with (and probably more natural) was very thick on top with a thinner layer underneath. A local may be able to explain. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Haha, yes indeed. The autofocus on my Sony is a little annoying, and though I could probably try different settings, I get round it by taking lots of photos and junking the ones that don't work. It's doubly annoying when you have a quick look on the screen and think you've got it right, only to find when you get home that the camera is having a giggle at your ineptitude.0 -
I just switch it off on my phone when trying to focus on anything close up as the focusing elves can't be trusted.briantrumpet said:rjsterry said:

We had clotted cream and scones and the waitress was luverly. I was 18 and later moved to Eastbaaaaawn to go to college.

I have a friend in Pevensey. Maybe that’s why your one moved. Nice part of the world. Pleasant train ride along the coast from Eastbourne into Hastings passing Cooden beach and Pevensey bay.pinno said:

I'm not even sure what it's supposed to be, but I saw this little chap for the first time, today, in Exeter Cathedral.

Such a great route to get out of the city and for commuting. Here is a pic from Mangotsfield Station.
