It'll certainly get plenty of water there. It's a very heavy/dense wood.1

Climate up here doesn't allow for
LiveHolm oaks, though my Quercus robur planted in '85 is doing rather well.
I have even grown an acorn from it and donated the sapling.seanoconn - gruagach craic!1 -
<< Has planted an oak in our paddock. Dunno variety - “red” I think. Doing ok, given it’s in sandy soil.Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0

Got to be one of my favourite trees the mighty Oak. I do like Elm but they are pretty rare. There's 1 doing very well in the local town, probably because it's pretty isolated.
I loved the big Copper beech trees back in 'Naam.
We had a Maple (Acer palmatum purpureum). It was doing well in the conservatory. Got far too big, shifted into the lee of the Northerly's behind the garage. Did fine for 2 seasons until a frost in late April. Didn't survive.
I am nursing one poor, dishevelled Lidl one bought for £4.99 in the hope that when I put it out, it will survive. I have the location marked out in a shady area with lots of shelter.
Some Hawthorne variety locally has a red flower. If I could just find some saplings to go in the hedge...
Soz. Got carried away.

Le selfie du jour... the causeway I'm standing on is my Concretehenge: when the sunset is directly at its end, it's either the start of winter (roughly 1 Nov), or spring is on the way (at least in my mind... roughly now).
Spring's on the way.
If it wasn’t for the telephone box, I might have thought this was in Denmark. Nice photo1 -

Thanks CC. Further along there are several houses which are often called 'Dutch' (making use of the attics), but which, I am assured by a knowledgeable architectural historian, are thoroughly 17th-century English design.0 -

Cheers Brian, housebound with this beautiful weather, so I tried to get creative with my front bike light.1

Not my own photography, but I made a collage from photography in Rouleur. Have printed and will frame for the wall in our bike room…

Yes but does Ben have kids? Going to have kids soon? You can’t have anything nice or is easy to break in the house until the kids have grown up/f.ucked off.pinno said:

We had a glass covered coffee table and when Tricky was just old enough to use legs (chairs, tables, ours) and the sofa to stand upright, she decided to tap her wooden rattle on it...
Then she got a bit too enthusiastic and before I had a chance to stop her @$£%&CRASH?:@{_) went the glass.
We elected to not replace the glass until... well, number 2 came along and then another wait and then we eventually donated the table sans glass.
They don't 'smell'.
Although the sardine and mash (on the exit) incident was rather ripe.

The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
