How else can I practice the science of tasseography?

In reality, it was only a small amount swirled around.

Just doing the washing up and noticed a strange hue, then saw this. Strange as the weather was thick cloud and grey. It only lasted about 1 min after I noticed it. Amazing, this was the true colour!

Nice. Catching sunsets is a bit of judgement and a lot of luck. Mine was a bit boring tonight... had been hoping for something better.

Nice tranquil feel to that, Brian.
This was the weather today, so I didn't expect a sunset.

All depends what happens with the cloud on the horizon at sunset... always on the lookout for breaks there in the run-up.

Looks like you're on the wrong side of the river (not for photography reasons).

    Cheesy, but good lighting.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

I wonder how many patrons end up in the drink after a good session.

No. They are much broader in temperate climates.
If you ever have a chance to go to Gloucececestershire, go visit Westonbirt Arboretum and Cheltenham which has few endearing features - it's pretty but it's clicky. But 'Naam has a plethora of exotic trees. For example, The Park Campus sits in a residential area where the care and maintenance of the trees is annual and paid for by the local residents at tremendous cost.
There are Sequoia's, Cypress, Elm, numerous varieties of Oak, large Purple Beech trees, Monkey puzzle, Maples - they are stunning.
Muggins had the 'pleasure' of transferring all 12,000 trees (within urban limits) into a database created by myself and a guy from the IT dept. of Cheltenham Borough Council for the purposes of 18 month interval inspection and maintenance.
In Wellington square, a Sequoia in someone's garden, has a preservation order on it and the council erect huge scaffolding every 18 months to prune dead wood out of it at the council's expense because if Mrs Chlamonderley-Smythe-Scratchbottom were to be squished by dead wood whilst walking her Pekinese, the dogs are well financed to sue.

    Got carried away, soz.

Scots Pine, I reckon. Although the far one could be a Monterey Cypress (Macrocarpa)

Not gnarly enough for Scots pine shirley?
Mind you, it's milder, more fertile and not so wind swept down there.

Like you say, more sheltered conditions. Also, Pines can appear bushy when not fully grown.
