Got myself a cheap Panasonic Lumix recently, as my Sony HX-50s are getting temperamental. I can't be bothered with lots of manual settings, but the auto is getting some decent results, and the macro is good.

Thanks both. I actually quite enjoy the challenge of getting the most out of auto settings... working out what zoom/macro will work and what won't. And I'd not want to swap the mindset of quickly grabbing passing sights for one of worrying about settings, and thereby miss the moment.
Yes, still quite pleased with that one, seen better when not in BR's image hosting.

All too often the lack of depth of focus on macro makes photos of bees very hit-and-miss... which makes it quite fun trying to get a good one... the secret seems to be not to get too close or to try to zoom in too much, and rely on a decent lens (the Lumix has a Leica), image chip and resolution so you can crop what you want from a somewhat broader image.0 -

Haha, a good friend of mine does a lot of classic car restoration and what he doesn't know about rust isn't worth knowing (especially as he specialised in Lancias), so all I did was to look at the rust first. Nice photos though 0

I took a near identical picture today on the Brahan Estate near Conon Bridge in Scotland (except mine isn't as good as yours).

The first thing I noticed was the hub caps. I bought 4 'copy' caps which I knew to be inferior to the VW Heritage one's that were extortionate and I just wondered...seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
