This strange shot (not that I think it's good in any way whatsoever) was created when I tried to take pics of the sunset.

Strange and different. I prefer to get above the trees. 😉
From last night. Well worth missing 15 minutes of the football for.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.2 -

Wow.
It makes me realise what a good little (Leica) lens it is, when you consider the original uncropped version:
The trouble is that if you try to zoom in/get closer, the depth of focus is rubbish. Still pretty impressive for a £200 cheapo on auto.

That's probably my main skill (taking lots of photos), and why I'd be no good using real film... I take lots and I'd be bankrupt. Having said that, one's strike rate does get better the more you practise and learn the quirks of the auto settings.0 -

It's a longhorn beetle, rutpela maculata, apparently. "Common and widespread in England and Wales, much less common further north." I think that you'll need climate change to see it where you are.

One warm evening (yes, we get the odd few), I was working late in the garage and there was this sound of Chinook helicopters... Well, it may well have been. 3 Stag beetles flying in a trio, almost a scene out of Apocalypse now, came right towards me and all 3 landed on my head.
It was a bit ticklish but didn't phase me. They squirmed around for a while and then took off.
I guess my baldy coup was the perfect landing strip.seanoconn - gruagach craic!3 -

This time, the floret at the centre of a wild carrot flower head. It's about 3mm total in width, and (even when rain-drenched), very beautiful

I think the sun must have got held up by the border police... but it should arrive at the weekend. I'll be lavender hunting for a few days, as the cold damp spring and early summer have delayed the harvest. Then it'll be sunflowers. I disappoint myself with how clichéd my photos are of both subjects. Ditto my general landscapes around here... part of my problem being when there's stunning scenery, I'm not very good at seeing unusual angles, and I end up with generic (if reasonably done) touristy photos, rather than particularly interesting compositions. Mind you, my French audience seems to like them well enough.

Thought I'd give the macro stuff a go. Not much colour or features though (I chased the moth out after I took this as the puppy was eyeing it up as a snack.
