No, quite small, and actually might be a hover fly pretending to be a wasp.

A friend drove over for lunch. As he's waiting for a hip replacement, and he came in a nice car, I'll forgive him.

Aha, I've been slightly obsessed by trying to get (with my cheapo camera) a good photo of the little floret at the centre of wild carrot flowers. This is getting probably as good as I'll get. The purple floret is about 2mm wide.

Not sure why your post doesn't display the photo... a nice one!

Weird, it shows up for me.

Unusual to get a mushroom in such untouched condition.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

The roads weren't exactly crowded when I went out earlyish this morning. The light was lovely too.

BTW, whether or not you want some tourist tat, here's some: sunflower tat this time. (Incidentally, it's not true that they turn towards the sun... they turn towards where the sun rises, so they should be called 'tourneleveedesol'.)

Indeed, as I found out when I planted a load of them and they all looked over the garden wall towards next door.
Which pleased the neighbours 😕

I think I've caught a Perseid meteor with my phone.

Bit of aurora visible in East Devon.

And another Perseid.
Might get that one made into a jigsaw 😆

Surely that is a UFO with the acceleration and sudden change in direction once spotted? 🤣

Looks like a section of the Milky Way too. I was going to take the camera out last night with so much to potentially capture but there was a bit too much cloud to make it worth the effort along with not having very dark skies.

Hadn't spotted that until you mentioned it. Checked the video file that the phone creates and it shows two meteors intersecting. There's also a third that doesn't show up in the still image. I'll see if I can pull out a different still to capture it.

Clear skies forecast tomorrow so I may try to not be lazy and get out. The peak of the Perseids was last night and the night before but the next couple of nights should still be OK before it drops of sharply (and the moon is getting fuller / setting later). Saw a photo yesterday where someone had managed to get the aurora, meteors and lightning strikes in one photo in West Wales.

I took a nice one of a bee on a thistle but for some reason it stubbornly refuses to upload onto here despite me resizing it which normally works.

This astrophotography lark is frustrating. I came out as it was beautifully clear although the forecast shows it clouding over as the evening goes on. Milky Way core should be visible from 11.00-12.30 although the moon doesn’t set completely until midnight. Got my twighlight foreground done but as I wait for full dark there’s a fair bit of cloud coming in and getting thicker all the time. Fingers crossed it will hold off enough. Think I caught a meteor on one of my foreground shots at least.

Playing with the phone while I wait. Sky is clear to the west so hopefully that will move over in the next hour. Milky Way should rise where the moon is in that shot which is the thickest cloud at present.

I’ve also got FZ’s mate Musk trying to mess up my shots with Starlink now as well.

A fair bit of work went into this. The foreground is a 6 shot panorama taken in twighlight and the sky is 12 shots (6x2) once it was fully dark and the moon has set all taken at 15" ISO 3200 and f/2.8. There seems to be a bit of air glow (slight green tint). I'd be really happy with it if that annoying low cloud hadn't sat stubbornly in front of the galactic core reflecting the monn below the horizon, anywhere else in the sky and it could have added to the photo. I need to review other shots I took as I had a few meteors whilst shooting and at least 3 or 4 should have been picked up.

Got this one from a different position as I was leaving, 3 shot vertical panorma that has done a better job of picking up the MW which is pretty much vertical in the sky at present. It really shows how much the moon (despite having fully set) and cloud plus some light pollution impacted the shots.

I like your house, BTW, Pross, but I think the roof might need a little attention.
