Two things I have seen in the last year or so that have me rethinking this. I now like people or buildings in my landscape shots to give a sense of scale. Cars. I always kept them out of shots but we all like seeing photos with cars from decades past so I'm now taking shots for decades future. (If I'm lucky 😉).
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

The plant pots make this!

I'd agree. Because of the very brief opportunity it's very much a case of pointing and shooting as many as you can then sifting through and cropping afterwards. The second one also better shows the dramatic contrast of the brightly lit buildings and the dark clouds.

It pays to be patient... one of these fields I got a technically dodgy shot of several years ago, and the other one was ploughed into something else (they do lengthy rotations for lavender) before I managed to get the early-morning shot I wanted. Boxes ticked today, even if it's going to take two or three years for the lavender to properly fill out for the 'classic shot'.
Tomorrow's weather looks super-dodgy, but might get some sun amongst the heavy showers, which would be nice. Then just Saturday morning before a two-week absence, so if I want to do any more lavender hunting, I'll need to do it now, as it'll all have been harvested in two weeks (or if not, looking manky).

Nice leading lines on those although shame the angle isn't towards the peaks on the top one.

No pleasing some people! 😉 But it'll do for #touristtat.
Incidentally, just by chance, I think the father/son (guessing) in this photo enhances it.

Ha, not sure what you could have done other than asking the farmer to do their ploughing and sowing in a different direction. The angle on the lower one is perfect.

Maybe I should wield my power as a local influencer to start a campaign for it to be re-aligned. Though as the farmer is unlikely to be a middle-aged woman who fancies men in lycra, I suspect my campaign might not be successful.

I’d agree with your opinion with that. Very nice.

More lavender (though no 'classic' shots today), and interesting weather. Missed a thorough drenching by a smaller margin than anticipated. Got a bit of a wiggle on as I saw black stuff edging in from the west. But at least it gave good skies. Last one's from my balcony moments before rain was hammering on the new roof.
Oh, and I like the people in the street scene, oblivious to the impending apocalypse.

Nice light in the lower three. 👍

Blue skies might be nice for cycling, but they are rather boring for photography, on the whole.

Would love some completely clear night skies in the next couple of months though.

Colour on a grey day. Played for about 1200 graduates today. Just another 22 ceremonies to go.

Two vertical panoramas today at Truro Cathedral... managed to sweep the camera in vaguely straight lines, though the pillars give away slight wobbles, as I don't think the cathedral itself is wobbly.

On a smaller scale... pond life near Maenporth this evening

Ha! I had that experience recently while trying terribly hard to photograph them using a 70-300 lens. It was the only one that came close, well within minimum focal distance. 😡😂

I was holding two dogs and a bag of poo when I took that on my phone. I had the slight advantage that I saw it yesterday when I didn’t have a camera and when it didn’t fly away I realised it was dead 😂

Nice, looks like something from War Of The Worlds

😍 Would love to see those up close. Was it a widely available visit or privately organised?

There are a number of companies who organise tours. We went with https://www.x-pilot.co.uk. Whilst I think there may be cheaper options, these guys use an old pilot boat and limit numbers to 12 people so there is plenty of room and everyone gets great views as you can move around the boat. The two guys are also very knowledgeable on the history and get very close to the forts. I would recommend.

Thanks for the tip. May have to go on my own, though, as wife and daughters all get sea sick.
