    Was very difficult to film.

  • I took this one while out for a jog a while back was pretty foggy and I liked how the streetlights filtered through the fog
  • It wasn't quite as nice as that here, but still nice.

I almost got the counting to ten right...

I've not risked trying that yet.
    I really should.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

It's actually quite a fun thing to do, both in figuring out the angle, and in the execution. For obvious reasons, the ones riding back towrds the camera are the trickiest to complete in time, and also the ones where you need to be most careful of other traffic. Oh, and not putting the camera where it's going to fall off or be run over.
  • Actually, this one required me to pedal furiously to get in position, as I'd set myself a slightly silly target of how far I needed to go to get in shot... I had to do a hairpin junction first... just made it. Gotta keep my mafffia (middle-aged French female fans) happy...

Why don't you use a remote trigger?
  • Why don't you use a remote trigger?

Hadn't even thought about it ...

Hmm, have just googled it for my camera, and though it's supposed to be possible, 'clunky' doesn't come close. Didn't actually manage to get the camera to connect to the phone via the Sony app, so I think I'll stick to the challenge of counting to 10.

I thought they were common as they avoid moving the camera. No pro obviously.

They probably are, but the HX-60 is a 15-y-o model, in effect, and the app isn't up to much either, so even if it is possible in theory, I can't get it to work. And the downside of using it would I'd need to operate the phone while riding, so slightly spoiling the pretence... generally I can get a decent shot in one or two goes if I plan the counting-to-ten sensibly. I'm no pro either - fortunately my trumpet playing is better than my photo skills.
  • Oh, a photograph... sans moi, you'll be relieved to know:

I wasn't expecting it to involve an app. Normally it is just a button with the other bit attached to your camera. A quick Google reveals a wired one for your camera but maybe there isn't a wireless one.

I have the wireless remote for my cameras, and very handy it is too. But since they are like any infra-red transmitter the beam is fairly directional and not particularly long range. Mine struggle for anything over 10 metres to trigger reliably, and you have to point it pretty precisely at the camera receiver for it to work. Pretty hard to do on the move on a bike.

Another solution for @briantrumpet is if his camera allows the function to pull still images from (high-res) video footage. Quite a lot of cameras do - the resulting image will be lower resolution than a normal picture but usually still quite acceptable if your auto-focus is working properly in the video.

Thanks, I'd agree that that might work, caveat included, but not nearly so much fun. I actually like the challenge, even if it's a silly one.

I was hoping to share some photos from Germany, but I forgot to transfer a memory card into the camera which I took with me. I did get a few snaps (and a nice little video) with my phone camera, which turned out okay:

  • There were several different sunsets tonight, as the cloudage was changing so rapidly with the strong northerly here, but this one from my top floor is the best of them, I think.

@Ben6899 - nice photos... at least you didn't make the memory card error I made in France one day this summer... taking a whole load of what I thought were lovely photos, but the camera didn't tell me I was being a numpty, having left the memory card in the laptop back at home...

The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

I probably ought to avoid the phrase 'Good shot.'

    Nice photo.
  • I had another go photographing the spider I'm cohabiting with at the moment. I'm not quite sure I want to find its hairy legs in bed with me (they might tickle), but it can stay, as it seems to look after its own diet, and doesn't keep me awake at night.

Still haven't found an arty angle on the subject yet... @masjer would do better, I think.

He had a short sabbatical from here a little while ago, so suspect it might be more of the same (whatever it was...)
  • I would have liked to do some colour photography today... or even black and white... but it's just grey & grey outside, with no prospect of a sunset, so I might just shut the curtains and pour myself a beer.

Finished mourning the queen now, so it's back to boring everybody again.
Today's trip. Took a path I've ignored in the past.

Good way to mark your return!

You have photographed that tree many times BT. Remember when I suggested picturing it in 4 seasons?
Perhaps an autumnal one when the leaves go brown? I think then you'll have the full set.
