The Colombian champion's jersey - rarely seen in the WT peloton. Debuts on Sunday.

I guess that's down to the SKY marketing machine and perhaps a little ego boosting on top.

More that none of the Colombian road race winners have not been in WT teams recently - some Team Colombia and some lower teams. Surprising that none of the big names from Colombia recently have won - Darwin Attapuma is an ex-champion but it was before he was with a pro-team
That was indeed my point. I can't remember the last time the Colombian colours were in a big race, aside from Uran in a TT.

The name Isreal Ochoa rings a bell - did he race in world tour?

Not sure what you expected. You'll see from the photograph though, that it was well-judged.

    Absolutely class jersey.

I agree, my comment was in response to Sky's Twitter feed announcement, which suggested it was some groundbreaking design.

Question is, was it Google or genuine knowledge?

I wasn't watching the vuelta in 1988 sadly as I was busy being born.

Who said it was ground-breaking? It's a standard Sky champions jersey - which the tend to do well.

Hang on, he was born in 1964. The records go back to 1999. If we presume that's when he started racing, he started at the age of 35 and retired at the age of 46? The mind boggles. Hang on...
I looked in Wiki and the records there go back to 1993. If that is when he started, he had a 17 year career starting at the age of 29 and finishing at 46.

I don't mind white shorts. Apart from them getting covered in dirt quickly they can look good. No offence but I get the feeling some of this is just saying they don't like them as it seems to be popular on the internet

No offence taken, my friend. I just really, really dislike them and always have

But then if I had my way, I'd ban black socks, sloping top tubes, and anything that appeared after 1990... #42goingon82

The borderline bit makes it a complement :-)

And to your follow-up - I am much better at google than I am at remembering cycling stats; but most of the names of winners were so unknown that I was pretty sure they had never raced in Europe - I checked the ones that rang a bell

A couple of chaps from Texas & Kilburn would disagree

    I quite like these:

They look like a freebie from Texaco. Perhaps for every 100 gallons of 'gasoline' you buy, you get a free pair of socks.

White shorts... It might be a popular thing to say on the Internet but they are truly hideous. Especially when it rains

The one thing that the most rabid Sky hater must give them credit for is never using anything other than their usual black shorts with prize jerseys (aside from the Rapha band).

Apologies if it has been said already, but may I say that Astana look a million times better this year with black shorts.

They look good. But it's terrible branding for Astana/Expo whatever. You can't see any detail on who they are sponsored by.

BMC on the other hand have got it spot on. Black shorts with a very visible white BMC on the arse... which in my view is the best sponsorship position in the peloton (unless you're going to win all the time).

Surely Steve Cummings has the most marketable arse in the peloton - often seen on camera as he potters around at the back.

You got to admire Steve Cummings; he just pulls an opportunistic one out of he bag once in a while. Lets hope he can do it again at 36 (March 19th).
