Paddy Power is offering odds of 6-4 for Trump to be impeached. With any luck, he'll take Pence with him and that will surely mean a general election?

    Evens at Ladbrokes:

I reckon those markets are thin enough you'd shift the odds with a bet under a grand.

Well I suggest you get a fixed SP then.

Fixed price. All these markets will be fixed price, there is no SP. Because it's not a race with a start.

I just meant looking at the odds of such a thin market doesn't reveal as much as we would like to think.

I give him a week. He's now urged congress to investigate thus creating an investigation into himself.

Perhaps he's suddenly realised the enormity of being POTUS and wants out.
On the other hand... He may think the divorce of Ivana has prepared him.

He seems to have having a nervous breakdown today. Accusing Obama of tapping his telephone lines and also accusing him of meeting the Russian Ambassador. At the White House. During his Presidency.

After spying on a congressional hearing into their own activities, I think the NSA is capable of spying on anything, although seeking permission from the president would be a bit odd. Trump is now just using that to his advantage. Yet another example of how dodgy past actions, even if well intentioned, come back to haunt.

Trump is evens on Betfair to stay for the full term. Excludes assination before anyone is tempted to use this a funding mechanism.

He'd have to have a clue about how it works to take advantage of it.

The advantage is that people will believe him.

Some might. Some would believe that he was the Messiah if he said so. But he's now put himself in the spotlight with these claims, claims which he effectively now has to disprove whereas last week they were simply unproven claims.

Interestingly, he left Bannon and Priebus behind at the Whitehouse on Friday and took them off the Air Force One manifest as he's mega pee'd off that Sessions recused himself after Trump said he had no reason to do so.

I'm specifically talking about the bugging claim which no one can disprove. Trump is taking advantage of this.

He's asked Congress to investigate it. Ergo he now has to bring it.

We'll see. My guess is nothing will happen.

Separately, and obviously no one has any idea, do you think it is likely that the NSA spied on Trump Towers?

I've no idea, but when you ask Congress to check whether the President has exceeded his power then, a) the President needs to have exercised it for you to progress and b) if a) then you need to demonstrate that you did nothing in order that the power not be appropriately used. IF he proceeds with asking Congress to look at this he will need to make a case, not just sit back and make accusations. It is an unusual strategy......and one which, it seems, wasn't run past anyone as he got out of bed and onto his phone.

Now, that someone else may have exercised the power is another story. And, if they have, then if Obama didn't order it he's in the clear and due an apology and, if he whinges about the power, then see b) above again.

That the NSA doing it might be related to Obama's policies in Government is another question, of course.

So he gets his briefings by reading papers that are supportive of him and appear not to have anything to back their claims. Very odd! He also can't spell tap from the Tweet they showed on the news.

Will we ever see him do anything? If he's so embroiled in controversy, accusations, fighting the press and even legal action, what will he achieve? As soon as his Redneck followers start realising that the jobs aren't forthcoming and maybe even a recession (we're due another one) thrown in, his support will wane to the point where pressure will come from all directions.

He will blame the press, Obama, Congress, the swamp etc etc etc for not allowing him to follow through with his pledges and they'll eat it up with a spoon.

If I was in America, I'd be more worried about him being impeached than not, because of your second point (which I cut out, sorry) - the break up of the union. You can see all hell braking loose if he's removed from office.

That's just standard politics. Same reason, apparently, that Guantanamo Bay is still open although clearly Obama's excuses excluded himself.

Just watching Evan Davis attempting to have a rational conversation with two Trump supporters...

    Wow.

It's as though he is interviewing a couple of cult members. They are essentially just quoting his tweets as though they are their own thoughts.

Didn't see that but had a quick search on Twitter last night whilst bored. His support is fervent, they just see anyone questioning him and his views as a left-wing nut job taken in by the fake news.

And that Alex Jones......ffs, it's like the lunatics are running the asylum.

I remember watching a documentary on the Loose Change conspiracy theory re. 9/11 and thinking he was a frothing at the mouth lunatic back then (probably 10 years ago).

    Unbelievable that Trump thanked him.

Has America always been this bat sh*t crazy, or has it all come about from 9/11? I was 17 and wasn't even remotely aware of world politics at the time.

See you in Court, he said, when the Courts ruled against him.

Did he see that through? No, of course, not, appeal withdrawn, costs paid, new ban written.

Donald never sees anyone in Court.

They need to start publishing how much the bollox he sprouts is costing the tax payers. A $ per tweet indicator would be good, sat next to the National Debt readout.

unfortunately it would be pointless, the more criticism he gets, the more his voters love him. Only time and his failings to do what he promised will get him out on the next election. All the negative media works in his favour for trump supporters, he's being seen as a victim of the establishment, the guy could have the Russian ambassador as an advisor on national security and his supporters wouldn't bat an eyelid.
All lies and jest..still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest....

Crazy, isn't it. Scary part is, he'll blame his failings on the press not allowing him to do his job and he'll get 4 more years.

If Obama had links to Russia like Trump, some crazed redneck(s) would have camped outside the whitehouse with their pitchforks (or, probably assault rifles).

The more time that passes, the more unbelievable it all becomes.

    Only America.

Sometimes real life is more scary, one trump supporter went to a pizza restaurant with a gun where they believed this was happening

New travel ban, Agent Flynn, sacks a load of prosecutors, Obamacare replacement not all that, associates acting up, Spicer gives distress signal.

Busy week for Trump, but the media storm is dying down.
