You might well be right, and if you are, America is screwed.0 -
I would have agreed a year or two back but think things are going against him. His candidates didn’t do well in the mid-terms and there are going to be others in the Republican Party who want to get their man on the ballot paper. Add in there will be some even among Republicans who would have been shocked by that violence. Then you’ve got his financial backing which has dried up to the extent he is having sell a virtual Panini sticker album, presumably as his previous backers are a bit tied up dealing with Ukraine and / or their accounts are frozen.MattFalle said:bet you a fiver nothing will happen to him

Haha, Republicans unable to vote in a speaker for the HoR, as McCarthy doesn't have enough support from the Freedom Caucus loons, and 'despite' Trump saying they should vote for McCarthy. Shambles. Quite unlike the Tory Party leadership elections, obvs.0

What's funnier is that to stop the voting, they'd need to vote to adjourn, and he doesn't have the votes for that either.briantrumpet said:Haha, Republicans unable to vote in a speaker for the HoR, as McCarthy doesn't have enough support from the Freedom Caucus loons, and 'despite' Trump saying they should vote for McCarthy. Whilst on the one side the GOPs are engaging in tense negations, the Democrats are tucking into popcorn enjoying the spectacle. Their are not going to vote for an adjournment0
-
Didn’t they vote for another guy (whose name I missed) despite that person voting for McCarthy? It’s like they’ve been watching the Tories and felt the need to trump (no pun intended) their stupidity in world politics.briantrumpet said:Haha, Republicans unable to vote in a speaker for the HoR, as McCarthy doesn't have enough support from the Freedom Caucus loons, and 'despite' Trump saying they should vote for McCarthy. One has to 'admire' (no not at all) just how successful has been Pootin's decade plus long campaign of bunging dodgy politico chancers wads of cash alongside soshul meejah bot-blitz winding up the susceptibles. Brexshit? Tick. Der Drumpf as president? Double tick. And so it goes on. And on.

Gonna run into some debt cap problems again this year aren't they?
Democrats should force their hand and back an anti-maga republican and get it over the line.0 -

I would guess that Dems aren't yet going to offer to help out, given that the Repubs are appearing more and more to be an ungovernable rabble at the mercy of the nutters.
But yes, eventually that could be a resolution, if they can get some concessions on committee memberships etc.0 -

.
Right now, only the Republicans are on TV, and not in a good way. So the Democrats will sit tight for a while.rick_chasey said:Swing voters think they’re all as bad as each other and this doesn’t help.

They'd need to find a non-maga Republican that the Republicans can stand first.rick_chasey said:
