My personal view of the situation is Trump has consistently been on a campaign to discredit his opposition and suppress anything which makes him appear either weak or incorrect while keeping himself in the spotlight of the world.
You could probably apply this formula to anything he has done during his time in office or the 2016 electoral campaign.
As its the most recent I'll use the current loss of the presidential election as an example.
Problem
Election
Solution
Cast doubt upon your opponent
Create a nickname to portray them as inferior
Use unfounded allegations of wrong doings either against the person or at people within their close sphere of influence
Claim the systems around the process are skewed in favour of the other person
Refer to "Deep State"
Twitter rant
Quote from friendly media
State other media is out to get them
Now you could change the Election to pretty much any of Trumps issues over the last four years most of the tactics actually fit.
The election dis information that Trump has ran is not only the latest but also by far his most effective causing a large chunk of the mid US to believe the election was unfair, despite when asked how being unable to refer to anything more concrete than saying that the president said it was, so it must be true.
Now unfortunately for Trump the above "process" for want of a better word has come upon a hurdle it cannot surmount, that being the overriding amount of votes and legal process, but I think we will see much like any cornered animal, this is when they are at their most dangerous.
Also re Trump flying to Scotland to avoid the Inauguration, if the airport follow procedure the aircraft may be allowed to land and refuel but they would not be allowed to stay, nor even leave the aircraft due to the Scottish lockdown, Trump is not a returning resident of the country and if he is still president at the time of landing he still would not be granted immunity for them the laws. If he landed and was no longer president then he has even less power. I believe the only way he could legally enter the country would be via a US Airforce base, but in line with their current lockdown measures he would not be allowed off site. Also he could not claim going to the course as exercise as the law in Scotland around the exercise in Scotland (which apparently golf comes under) means the courses he owns are all to far from a USAF Base. So unless they are converting a runway into a private course I doubt he will get much golfing done within the UK.

The barn has gone but yes, the rest is right. Up to you.
He bases his beliefs on what he discusses with his friends who hold the same beliefs and is unwilling to accept a different viewpoint and structure it into his thinking.
Where you live and what your do doesn't define you - your educative reasoning, your beliefs in right and wrong, your social beliefs and not believing your own pseudo intello make believe ego are what make you.
Just because you have a nice house and a Honda Anaconda doesn't mean that you don't go out and graft and that what makes you.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not calling the sympathy vote - stuff working down the mines/fishing boats/rigs - I couldn't do that, but what I do do allows me to look at and understand other people's views and backgrounds from all social diametrics as opposed to having dinner parties and working in an employment agency..The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

Who owes who?
Pence don't owe him schmence. Pence is the only one who will walk out of this unscathed and that's only because he's done absolutely nothing for 4 years.
Pence knows that if he tries anything now he'll be laughed at by the courts and have no future at all - as it is he can retire into NEDship, a couple of book deals and the speaking circuit.
Support Trump in this and he's stuffed
Stone doesn't owe anyone anything because he's a dab hand political master - he has so much dirt on his enemies that he is untouchable.
The prison time was measly and he would have got paid for that as part of taking the rap. Don't think he did proper time either - untouchable..The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

Presumably Pence wants to run in 2024 and he would be very popular with the religious conservative right for his views on LGBTQ rights (Google his record as Governor of Indiana and member of Congress). So like other people he has to be careful about pissing Trump off because one thing we know about Trump is he regards loyalty above almost everything else and if you cross him he goes after you.
This is why Pence didn't personally say anything about the Texas lawsuit or the upcoming attempt to dispute the counting of the Electoral College votes but 'let it be known' that he supported them.
As for Paul Ryan I think he'll be one of the surprise contenders for 2024 Republican nomination because he can basically say 'it wasn't me' when inevitably challenged about what he did/didn't do during the Trump Presidency unlike just about every other candidate who's going to get smeared with Trump sh*t.'Hello to Jason Isaacs'0 -

I doubt if Pence will make it past celebrity-death-watch 2021 let alone get to 2024.schlepcycling said:Presumably Pence wants to run in 2024 and he would be very popular with the religious conservative right for his views on LGBTQ rights (Google his record as Governor of Indiana and member of Congress). It sums him up that his supporters are protesting and seemingly threatening to become violent and, rather than appeal for calm as pretty much any other political leader would, he is fanning the flames with his rhetoric. I'm also surprised that he still has a support base for him personally rather than the Republicans considering he has totally failed to deliver the populist policies he said he would.0

Sounds like you want boots on the streets.....
You need serious people who people listen to continue to point and explain what the Reps are doing - particularly republicans who are pro-democracy.
Your Mitt Romney’s of this world.
They all need to get organised and mount their own material response to it.
Sitting and hoping they fail is not a strategy.
Less useful but Biden needs to spell it out.
You need to get serious people who people listen to explaining how America is actually one of the world’s leaders when it comes to vote counting.

Its has come to something when Mitt Romney is classed as a serious, normal candidate. I remember when he was a presidential candidate and he was seen as a bit of a nutter! I guess it's all relative.0

Shots fired in the Capitol building is being reported. It's gone completely over the top.
But isn't the right to bare arms in the 2nd amendment all connected to holding the government to account?0 -
