I knew he’d squeal like a little piggy but I never saw this coming.

Proper banana republic stuff and definitely going out with a bang.

Lol have you seen what they look like in there? This isn’t a coup.
The Beer Hall Putsch wasn't too impressive either if my memory of A Level history serves me right.
    That also ended in failure.

Trump let them in, essentially, but look at them.

    They’re not organised.

    Biden will be President.

A lot of this is in the hands of republicans - either they continue to ride the tiger or they get off.

I would reckon most will get off.

I find it really amusing that these events were the straw that broke the camel's back from some republicans. I am not sure his latest ranting is the worst thing he has done in the last 4-5 years.

It will be a right laugh when the police are round his gaff looking for the podium piece back. I would be worried about excessive force if I was him.

Perhaps. They are in pretty deep though. Most of them will try to save face. Somehow object to the results but not the result.

    Sure fascists gonna fascist.

    And plenty of yanks are.

In a FPTP system both parties can, if they want, shut that avenue down.

The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Keep an eye out for all those MPs furiously scrubbing their Twitter of any tweets praising Trump

Going to be an interesting night. This isn't going to be limited to DC is it?

Extraordinary. Trump's actually celebrating the event, one in which a person died.

Well, they didn't last long... Twitter has removed both of those tweets by the President of the United States.

I genuinely didn't think he'd have the brass neck to revel in what's happening. I thought we'd get more "both sides" weaseling...

Unfortunately the person shot in the capitol building died. It's a sorry state of affairs when the outgoing president has to sink supporting rioting and still refuses to concede the election.

From what I understand as well another person fell from the scaffolding bring prepared for the inauguration and is critically ill in hospital.

Pelosi's computer has been stolen from her office apparently to show the world the "truth", they are though forgetting the device will be heavily encrypted so it will be nigh on impossible for them to retrieve anything.

Thankfully the protesting seems to have died down as the police enforced the 6PM curfew but I would expect further incidents and repercussions as well as some strong questions being asked in the coming days as to why this was able to escalate to the level it has done.

Well he was basically saying he supported the actions of the protesters/rioters

Honest question, is it better to prosecute him or not?

In terms of giving the trump lot something to rally around afterwards? Having him as a martyr etc

Yes. Forgetting the free speech aspect, it's not going to do anything but cause more division. I think the main problem is that twitter (and other social media platforms) have too much power.

Trump is an absolute disgrace, though. I wouldn't be surprised if he were removed at gunpoint from the White House.

A second, quick time impeachment would do the trick.
That would stop him from ever standing again.
Use the 25th and remove him from office.

I suppose you could look at it the other way round and say that any president who is regularly getting tweets deleted and banned is not fit to be president.

Double edge sword with that though.

prosecute him and he will be seen as a martyr fighting his supposed enemies of the Socialist Democrats and deep state.
Do nothing and be seen to be siding with him or viewed as weak.

Both likely result in violence in one form or another, its akin to playing pass the parcel with a live hand grenade, its going to go off in someone's lap eventually

I mean, there is a public order case in this specific instance.

A news team deciding not to share Trump's statements for fear of incitement would not be seen as censorship by most normal people.

I'm not sure either way tbh.
