Its was tongue in cheek, but there is a line there. There is also a big difference between and attempted and a successful coup.rick_chasey said:
Lol have you seen what they look like in there? This isn’t a coup.elbowloh said:When does a protest become an attempted coup?

While this is going on, similar simultaneous operations in a number of state capitals. DoD refuses request for national guard.0

Bbc news presenter really laying into trump in a way I haven't seen. Refreshing.- Genesis Croix de Fer

To be honest, the US really is becoming similar to Venezuela. Just under Republican ‘president’.0

I didn't budget for this much popcorn.kingstongraham said:Today is going to be a popcorn day. Republicans just lost the senate.

It's gone exactly as some on here predicted even before the election.1

And yet there are are some "protestors" who think they're militaryelbowloh said:

Muppets don't wear masks = muppets going to jail.0
-
Given the speech that McConnell gave taking down the attempt to use Congress to overturn the election result, it's not impossible that they'd vote to impeach and remove him today or tomorrow. Maybe this is the shock that the US needed to demonstrate what happens when you elect a populist madman.0

It's time to meet the Muppets on the Muppet Show tonight!joelsim said:Is this bloke 100% or just 99.99% muppet?
What a tool.

If I was Kermit or Fozzie I think I'd be suing.0

Priceless from CNN. "Most of these people are probably too stupid to realise they will wind up in jail."0

Joe Biden ain't quite the ticket either, listening to him speak now. Why the hell can't major Countries field half decent half sensible candidates?0
-
Beats to alternative. Did you watch Ted Cruz earlier? That's US politics for the next decade. Lies to persuade stupid people.focuszing723 said:Joe Biden ain't quite the ticket either, listening to him speak now. Why the hell can't major Countries field half decent half sensible candidates?

The Beer Hall Putsch wasn't too impressive either if my memory of A Level history serves me right.rick_chasey said:

He's desperately wanting to 'heal' America, I think, so avoiding inflammatory rhetoric... but Trump and his thugs are making that seem a less and less plausible/sensible path to tread.
At least he's appointing Merrick Garland (the person that McConnell denied a Supreme Court position) to be the next Attorney General, so there's a nice bit of trolling there.0 -
Trump's come out with a video to the rioters on Twitter. It's as insane as you'd expect.0
-
I've not seen this one before

And already Twitter has flagged it. I think he might well get chucked off before the 21st.kingstongraham said:Trump's come out with a video to the rioters on Twitter. It's as insane as you'd expect.

Trump half-heartedly asks rioters to go home, whilst still saying the election was stolen. Insane doesn't even begin to describe it0
-
When do the tanks roll up to the White House and the generals tell Covfefe Man to GTF? US democracy follows the models set by African, Asian, European states various.... happy times eh.0
-
He says "I love you" to the rioters.0
-
Aahahaha just watched his video...what a bell end.
"You're very special"
Got that right at least.- Genesis Croix de Fer

There we go. Pence and McConnell go against trump and for the electoral result.rick_chasey said:
No. That’s not what I want.MattFalle said:
So you want a protest. Something nice and jumpers, few placards, back home on the train, dinner and pseudo discussion, back to the recruitment office to sell jobs to fascists the next day. Cool.rick_chasey said:
No, you just lack imagination.MattFalle said:rick_chasey said:
FWIW I would suggest hoping people see the better side is not really an effective tactic in this scenarioelbowloh said:
TBF, it's only a (relatively) small number and not supported by the Senate Majority Leader. Hopefully Pence will see sense and not support it.rick_chasey said:Full blown authoritarian attempt to overthrow the election result going on by the Republican Party.
They’re not backing down.
Sounds like you want boots on the streets.....
You need serious people who people listen to continue to point and explain what the Reps are doing - particularly republicans who are pro-democracy.
Your Mitt Romney’s of this world.
They all need to get organised and mount their own material response to it.
Sitting and hoping they fail is not a strategy.
Less useful but Biden needs to spell it out.
You need to get serious people who people listen to explaining how America is actually one of the world’s leaders when it comes to vote counting.
That’s how you stop it.
good job Richard - you read that situation perfectly.
Best stick to the day job at the employment agency we think..The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

CNN saying Dems win 2nd Georgia Senate seat. 50:50. Therefore with Kamala in charge control the Senate.0
