I know some folk here are glad Donald Trump is the PotUS Elect and I'm not ready to stop discussing other things with said folk because of this. Ie I'll still help, if you post in Workshop with a misbehaving front mech.

But - if you'll oblige me - what is it about Trump that makes you happy he's the PotUS Elect?

Don't be vague and give me the anti-establishment talk; let me know which of Trump's ideas really do it for you.

Is it the wall? The Pro-Life stance? The fact he thinks he's mates with Russia?

I'm not looking for a fight here. I'm just a bit tired of "well, he's not political elite" soundbites. Those soundbites don't really mean anything.

Decent take on the difference between being pro-business and pro-market.

I'm fiercely anti. But the BBC produced a list.

    I could go with: 7 (but it's complicated), 10 (as a matter of fact), 12 and 13 (probably), 16 and 17 (certainly), and 24

they did a similar list for Corbyn and I agreed with about half of his policies - mainly about giving back overseas territories, abolishing the monarchy and scrapping HS2 and Hinckley Point.

on that list I only agree with a couple - currently I am finding him funny, maybe we should have more absurd leaders

    Thanks mate.

7 - Very complicated. And even the PotUS can't reanimate dead despots.
10 - so was Hitler. I'm really not sure how Trump plans to carry on with the Russians - he admits himself that the respect is far from mutual.
    12 - I doubt he really cares. It's a populous comment.
13 - This might be the only one I truly agree with.
16 - oh this one's reasonable as well.
17 - thin end of the wedge, IMO.
24 - if he sticks with it, rather than just using it to be that really nice guy (#18)

A lot of those points in the article actually reveal he's a pretty scary prospect.

  • I think he'll base much of what he does on 13. They're the bad guys in his eyes. And, yes, taking comfort from some you may have some common ground (and I base mine on the titles more than the content of some of them) is scant comfort indeed.

Don't recall many pro-Trumpettes, apart from the fox's pal who was more rabidly anti Clinton, for whatever reasons, than pro der Drumpf.

    No not pro Trump.
I did say that HC's only quality was that she wasn't Trump.

All the Democrats had to do was to pick a candidate who wasn't Clinton.

You've gotta wonder why he's so keen to break up the EU and NATO, can only make the 'big' players even more powerful

Seems Berlin is a bit shocked by Trump's charge that the EU is a German racket and the NATO is obsolete.

That pic of Trump and Gove together (with thumbs up and with Gove grinning like the chinless tw@t he is) is possibly the worst picture on the internet at the moment.

It's curious he hasn't made time yet to meet May, but will take an interview from Gove.

Would suggest a US/UK deal isn't that high on his agenda, despite what he says.

Why would it be? he has consistently talked bo****x, he aint going to change. The only thing drumph wants from the UK is to stop the building of wind turbines off the coast of his aberdeen gold course, there will be leverage applied. Any deal the US makes from now on, they will have to be seen to be the winner.

    Great journalism.

He doesn't call Trump out on any of his inconsistencies, even within the same interview.

whilst he does talk b0ll0x his actions have been in favour of American jobs for American workers. By definition a trade deal with the UK will be bad for American jobs so I doubt he will do it in any way that is favouable to us.

Correction - HE will have to be the winner. If we can get a ridiculously good deal, and the price is ditching a wind farm, should we do it?

Because he is scared somebody will call him out on his inconsistencies.

I'd call it corruption, not blackmail.

if that is all he asks then we should bite his hand off. It is much cheaper than invading somebody and will keep out lapdog relationship special.

Gove probably missed the inconsistencies, which is why he didn't call him out. These people only hear what they want to.
