Meryl Streep recently used her acceptance speech at an awards ceromony to attack Trump's mocking of a disabled reporter.

Here she is giving Roman Polanski a standing ovation.

    Funny things, moral compasses. :?

Or perhaps she's just another luvvie full of her own importance.

Streep applauds - along with Jack Nicholson, Nicholas Cage and......the rest of the entire audience. Shock.
  • Some stand up before her as well. Shock. Harrison even presents it. Bloody liberal elite. Must buy that tear mug thing.

Seriously! do you not think that she was applauding a film winning the oscar which happened to be made by polanski. As vile as the little man maybe (which could explain why she was standing up to see him?) to be part of this new culture of spreading mistruths and plain lies  , but I guess you could be a big fan of Katie Hopkins and Piers Morgan as well?

Oh that we were all absolutely consistent in everything we do. It is possible to be wrong about one thing and right about another.

Still surprised at how he cannot let any criticism pass without firing off a tweet that X is very over-rated, unfair, etc.

He really needs to tell his self-esteem that he's been elected president of the USA.

No it isn't. She should acknowledge her inappropriate clapping and refrain for ever more from dishonestly trying to convince us that she has any morals at all. The clapping clearly indicates that she cares nothing about disabled people.

In fact, we should all stop caring about disabled people right now just in case in the future we inadvertently clap for something or someone that somebody thinks we shouldn't do and posts it on the internet.

  • Interesting little twitter spat between our Welsh angel Charlie Church and Trump('s staff).

She alleges they asked and she said no. Haters claiming lie.

Should be fairly easy to verify one would think. Wonder if Trump will respond.

I saw a meme stating 'real men don't wage twitter wars' over a picture of Obama.

Der Drumpf really is an insecure and needy individual; whodathunk that Potus(elect) would have descended to such levels of internet whining. Grow a pair man. There are bigger issues in the world for you to address.

Bally's found a kindred spirit in attitudes towards women so he's a little defensive.

Defensive? :? Kindred spirit in attitudes towards women? That's ironic when I am attacking someone for cheering someone who raped a 13 year old girl.

Firstly, Donald Trump is probably all the things people say he is, maybe worse. I don't recall saying differently. Sexist? Racist? Yep
How Trump mocked the disabled was truly appalling.
All Merryl Streep sought to do was to reinforce her right on liberal credentials. If she was going to make a speech highlighting deplorable attitudes held by people, she could have sought to make a difference.

If she had said something along the lines of..."We have a president elect who thinks it ok to grab any woman by the pussy and is overtly sexist and racist and we deplore his attitude. But look around you, people. Look at the sexism in Hollywood, where actresses have had to put up with this treatment for decades. Perhaps it is time we put our own house in order."
She could have make a similar plea on behalf of actresses who have had to hide their sexuality less it harm their careers.

She did none of this, as it would have harmed her career. She played to her audience.
Likewise she could have stayed sat on her ass when Polanskii, the child rapist was awarded best director, but hey, that's show business as they say.

Who says that she is applauding Polanski in that photo? In this wunnerful post truth world, where liars are given offices of state and any boxxox is treated as fact, people can and do say anything. That photo is of her cheering Halle Berry winning best actress in 2002.

For everyone's sake, can you please drop a line to Meryl telling her what she is and isn't allowed to say and when. I'm sure she would be very grateful.

Not sure Streep really needs to worry about harming her career after 46 years in the business and a vast list of awards. If you hadn't just jumped on Piers Morgan's band wagon and Polanski's award for directing The Pianist was in some way linked to Trump and Streep didn't already an actively campaign against sexism, then you might have a point. But... you did, it isn’t and she does.

Give him a chance, he hasn't even taken over the position of president yet. But his potential to wind up self righteous lefties on this forum is impressive judging by this thread so far :)

By lefties, you mean people who care about other people (especially less fortunate), the environment, women, LGBT, basic honest truthfulness, decency... He's had 70+ years of 'chances' he don't seem to have changed much. BTW I'm not a 'leftie' just a decent, honest middle of the road kinda guy but in my book empathy is the MOST important attribute of being a valuable member of human race.
PS I don't necessarily take you too seriously in the left v right argument
