The amount of videos of US police properly beating people who are doing next to nothing is quite remarkable. I mean, there are dozens and dozens of them. Hundreds even. People standing with the hands up in the air, people giving interviews to the news, old people walking, people on bikes, people in cars stopped at red lights, people kneeling down, silently, people just standing in the street getting shot with rubber bullets. The whole thing is nuts. There's multiple videos from the same instance where they shot a guy in the head with a rubber bullet, and the protesters try to get him behind police lines to be looked at - the police beckon them over and then when they get close, shoot the protesters carrying the unconscious body. What is the point of doing that?

I know everyone makes out that american police have a hard time because people could be armed, but it's hard to see them as anything other than weak and cowardly when they deal with protesters like that whilst armed to the teeth.

Anyone can beat up unarmed people dressed head-to-toe with armour with batons, shields, pepper spray, tear gas. It's not brave. It's what pussies do.

I mean, what do they think BLM is about?

There's so many of those videos. I can't get over those that show police pointing rubber/foam bullet launchers at head height rather than at the ground. They either haven't been trained or it's deliberate.

They are open about the fact that their criteria for judicial temperament include "compassion" and "open mindedness", which may be viewed as not Conservative.

I'd have thought being open minded was quite an important characteristic for a judge to have. Surely even the most Conervative can see that/

I think they have taken BLM to mean Blame Looting Masses

I Know the videos your referring to, its sickening to watch, theres another of an elderly man stood one arm raised police walk toward him shove him over hes clearly injured on the floor but they carry one past him.

They seem to have a total disregard for human life, that and the random groups of what are believed to be secret service turning up in full riot gear at protests but carrying no insignia nor identifying themselves is very concerning.

The military chiefs now seem to be trying to put some distance between themselves and citing the first amendment.

The whole thing feels surreal like the plot of some bad film where a dictator comes to power then America swoops in and blows everything up saving the day, yet this is America so whos going to save them? Seems the GOP is totally incapable. Various claims he is suffering from anything from Frontotemporal Dementia to the affects of his Covid Cure hes been taking.
Trying to think of the last leader who used drugs to keep him going...

It's easy to pin this all on trump but it's not really to do with him. The police might be a bit more emboldened by him and the racists in it might feel they have more room to be racist, but this is as old as America.

If you look at what the consequences are for US police breaking the rules and what even the rules are for dealing with people, you wouldn't believe it.

I mean, if you wanted to go around killing people, and i mean this quite seriously, why wouldn't you get into the US police force?

I saw a thing the other day pointing out that they have 17000 police forces or something in this region. When bad cops get outed and this does not seem to be early in the wrongdoing then they get sacked and then get a job at the nearest next police force. They might not even have to move house there are that many of them.

To put this in perspective there are apparently 43 police forces within the UK so we we scale that up to Americas roughly 6 times the population then we would have 258 police forces.

That 75 year old on Buffalo was only trying to give the police one of their riot helmets back. They're way out of control.

If you're not sure if his brain is in terminal decline, just read a transcript.

I feel for whoever has to transcribe today's remarks. It was just one 40 minute long sentence.

Including his hope that because the unemployment rate has gone down from 14% to 13%, George Floyd is "looking down and saying, ‘This is a great thing happening for our country’. "

At least I'm pretty sure that's what he meant, but you can never be entirely sure.

That one is pretty special - a question that isn't really anything to do with him personally, and yet....

He actually said of George Floyd - "This is a great day for him".

I've just seen him say "Nobody’s ever done for the black community what President Trump is doing."

    You cheeky barsteward.

Someone needs to shout Martin Luther King in his earhole.

And he's speaking about himself in the third person now, (is this a new thing?) the decline is looking terminal

The protests take a new twist.
The mayor of Washington D.C. renames the road leading to the White House - Black Lives Matter Plaza. Then gets it painted on the road in road wide high letters.
    That'll please the local tenant.

Ha. I mean, if Trump's basic premise beyond inflating his own ego is to troll anyone he doesn't like...

Anyone fancy identifying a single redeeming feature of Trump? Or is he just, as he appears, a horrible man with a decomposing brain, being used by clever but horrible men to push their horrible agenda?

As you can tell, I'm sitting on the fence on this one...
