I'm sure the Sungods are great however for £17 you can buy very very similar glasses and they are official sponsor/supplier to UAE Team Emirates.

Cheers BTR. Think a nice white and pink pair will be just the job for the wee wife.

I've just sold my Oakley on ebay to get a second pair, another lens and another pair of renegades.

Don't work, no close neighbours and the few relatives that I have are all a long way away (which is actually a positive from my perspective!). I'll just have to pay full price when I get back - it's only £20 or so (I was going to get some extra lenses as well).

They do look good, but is there a photochromic lens available?

Why don't you try contacting them, and see if they would be able to allow you to pay, but delay sending the order until X date?

Some places will be flexible, others won't, but you don't know unless you ask.

The pair I ordered for Mrs B are awaiting collection from our local Halfords later. White frames, the standard pink lenses and pink ear socks. Hope she likes them as they don't do returns on the custom stuff!

Are the high vis lenses you got the 4ko pace hi-vis blue?

Yes. They're quite yellow/blue to look through. Will test them tomorrow in the rain and thunder.

Really like the orange 4k lenses though. Slightly darker than the green. Very cool looking.

  • Hi BTR,
what lens do you use for overcast days?
I have a set of Rapha sunglasses with the mirrored lens, really impressed with these. In a recent sale I picked up the clear lens, much less impressed - I'm sure on other people they may look good - but not on me!! They do the job well, but think clear lenses aren't for me.
I do like the PaceBreakers and am very tempted to get a pair, just need to make sure I get a lens that I can wear in the Autumn / Spring on less sunny days. Is this the Hi-Vis Lens you mention? I had an Oakley pair that were great for the overcast days, this had a more orange / gold lens, now pretty scratched so fancy something different.

Yes, I'll be using the High Vis blue one. First run out in it tomorrow.

It's 44% VLT so that's actually, in theory, quite dark, especially for winter commuting, but having looked through it today I reckon it will be something you can wear at dusk. Bear in mind that even the clear lens is, perhaps oddly, 89% transmission. I'll report back tomorrow.

  • BTW, Oakley's Persimmon lens is 61% v the SunGod 44%. I doubt, in practice, whether there's a huge difference between them in terms of light passing through.

  • Used the high vis today, superb. Easily as good as the Oakley Persimmon lens.

Mrs B very pleased with her Pacebreakers.

The lens quality seems good as far as I can tell, though not yet seen them out in bright light. The overall construction appears decent too and they seem to be comfortable to wear.

The pink colour of the ear pieces is pretty bright/dayglo. With hindsight I'd have probably just got them in white for her but I think that replacements are available.

Not sure I'd want to swap my Oakleys for them, especially with no photochromic option at present. At roughly half the money of Oakleys though they're definitely a good buy.
  • Just got a pair delivered yesterday too - they really are very nice. The all round visibility is great. Black frame with the pink polarized lens. Wanted a polarized pair, but also wearable in the UK rather than anywhere really sunny.

Massive space but all cross members. Mrs wants to convert but it's a bastard of a job.
