It's tricky. That they don't suit is either a) your arris or b) not fit for purpose. Depends on their POV.

I'd stick them on the classifieds and knock a tenner off. Easier.......

Sadly not. There's not enough green around IMO.

The Rivelo jersey I'm writing about next is green. And it's a refreshing change.

You mean it won't appeal to the whacko's?

I like this. This is almost worth what it's priced at. I think i'll wait a little and see how much it comes down in price:

For anyone interested, the Rapha 25% discount code for doing their survey works against the currently discounted bundles meaning you end up with a decent discount. I'd recently bought a pro team midweight jersey using one of the classics 20% off codes but as I've not yet worn it I'll send it back and get the bundle with the pro team shorts instead for about £85 quid more than I paid for the jersey (the RRP of the shorts is £195!).

So it is your fault I have ordered a pro and a core set!

Has anyone else bought the core bundle? My code runs out Sunday (day after payday) is worth a purchase?

Not sure they're quite the same overall, same pad I think. I didn't find those ones quite as comfortable.

Yep, the shorts are good, quite a few panels, not a "premium" feel, but the pad is good. My only gripe would be that they are a bit long - just above the knee on me. The jersey is a jersey, not a race fit, so if you want that, size down. £105 for both with the code is a bit of a bargain I reckon, as far as overpriced bits of polyester can ever be a bargain. :D

I have the Core Bibs and Jersey, had them both a while now.
The Bibs I find awesome, in fact I find them more premium feeling than my Pro Team Bibs. Pretty sure its the same pad as the Pro Team?
The jersey, well, I bought mine in the sale so was ok with it. Looks wise it does look pretty good but there are a couple of negatives. I don't like the elastic gripper at the back, as at least on me, it doesn't grip. I have a size small which I find too loose on the shoulders so end up with a bit of flappy material. So I tend to find that the back of the jersey has ridden up and the top of the jersey has too much material. This might just be down to my preference in riding clothing, I much prefer the Pro Race range due to better fit for skinny guys.
For the price though I would say its a decent bargain.

Bender or anyone else... have you had any experience of the dhb Aeron Rain Defence jersey?
I've been looking at the Rapha Shadow Short Sleeve but I honestly can't justify spending that amount of money on a jersey. I'm after a short sleeve well fitted water repellent jersey that is breathable.
Will be used for short 1 hour races or training rides when it looks like it will rain, probably down to about 9 or 10 degree's - when its that cold and wet I'll use my Pro Race Jacket or soft shell.
I was tempted by the Orkan in their race fit, but I just don't like the look of them.
I'm currently using the Rapha windproof short sleeve base layer with a short sleeve jersey, as good as this is it is a bit boil in the bag at warmer temperatures.

The dhb appears to made of the same stuff as the Parentini Mossa. I've not tried it. But, if it is, then it should perform similarly depending on what weight they've chosen.

I'd have a look at the Lusso Corsa personally. Much lighter and just that bit better.

    Woodster,

If you can get it to fit the Castelli Perfetto is a good option - version 1 is massively reduced at the moment, version 2 I don't see as massively different -though they may have improved upon the fit of version 1. Bender recommended Lusso which is a very good homegrown company - so I don't think you can go far wrong with them.

I am assuming the test team shorts are worth the £40 with the pad from the shark?
I did make an inquiry with cyclesscuderia in Devon about what other Parentini bibshorts they have and they said they had the Parentini Tiger 2 bibshorts available at £90 - but unfortunately not in my size and the P UNO at £40 - which they had in my size and which I have ordered.

    Hi Letap,
I tried the Perfecto and the Imprevisto on last week. I've always had issues with Castelli fitting. I found the size small too tight at the neck but great everywhere else, but the medium was great on the neck/shoulders but way too loose on the tummy area. I'm 5 foot 8 weighing in at 67kgs.
The Lusso looks good, very tempted by that. Its either that or the Orkaan Race Fit.

....have bought and not yet ridden a pair of Sportful Fiandre LIGHT Norain Bibshorts which are sooo much more comfortable than the Nanoflex and not so hot. I have always overheated in my nanoflex. They seem to do both a light and warm version. Would get my vote and they aint expensive either.

I agree. Sportful Fiandre lights are great. Very comfy and work well across a range of temps I found. Just can you wear a Castelli Perfetto SS with SPORTFUL shorts? Great combo. I dont mind mixing brands, but others may need to scream "NO"!

Thanks all. I've got a pair of the Sportful shorts on order. 8)

These shorts in size L feel tight, but I think they'll be good on the bike.

I also ordered a Gabba ss in M and L to try. The M is the one as it is proper race fit as it should be for my 38" chest. From two pieces I now own, I think Castelli sizing is bang on as long as you understand that when they say "race fit, no flapping material", they really mean it.

I did also try the DHB Aeron no-rain ss. This was a nice top, but the Gabba was a slightly better fit on me. If I hadn't tried the Gabba, I would have been happy with the DHB. Nice kit. I might get the ls version at some point. The fabric is clearly quite different to the Gabba but the overall cut is very similar.

Hi all, a few months on so a few comments on this kit:

    1) Sportful Fiandre LIGHT Norain Bibshorts - they are comfortable shorts, but either they did not have any water-repellent stuff on them, or I've destroyed it before the first test in proper rain. They're just a normal pair of bibs as far as I can tell. I've just washed them in Nikwax TX direct, so will see if that extends their comfort range.

    2) Gabba - it's probably all been said many times, but anyway... Repels the rain for a bit then you get wet. But, you keep warm as long as you're working. Feels nice to wear and I like it a lot. Very happy in cool / windy conditions too. DWR seems a bit short lived. Have just Nikwaxed it and hoping it takes the treatment well. If it does, I might get a long sleeved one too.

    3) DHB rain defense arm and leg warmers - they offer a lot of protection, but don't breathe a lot. I still find them useful in the right temperature range and effort level. They're warm but damp if I get it right, and fully sweaty if it's too warm, but then they come off anyway. The arms pair well with the Gabba. The legs go over the top of overshoes and make a good splash-proof set up.

I've been getting some chafing issues on longer rides where the pad is stitched into the shorts at the front on both my Rivelo and DHB bibs. I understand Santini's C3 pad has no stitching at the front (bonded?) but are there any others like this? The Parentini shorts talk a lot about bonding but is the pad bonded in?

I bought the small pair of these, and the pad seemed very solid. Hammered it tonight on a fairly brutal 90 minute turbo workout, and am still impressed.
Only issue for me, and clearly a personal thing, is ideally the straps would be a tad shorter, and it's a tad gappy around my tum, think xs would have been better for me.
Fyi, receipt says they were originally £110.

The Parentini P UNO bib shorts are great for the money. Pad is almost on a par with the Rapha Pro team shorts. The fit is snug but comfortable - the leg grippers are not as good as the Pro team/ Free Aero/ Assos shorts I have but they are miles more expensive than the P UNO.
In answer to a previous post the pad on the P UNO is stiched in - but the stitching appears fairly recessed in.

If you look at the Merlin cycles website there are a few options for you - there is also a good discunt available!
