My DHB Vaeon Zero bibs just arrived, and having tried them on, highly delighted. Feet great, fit great, and the pad feels quiet substantial. Windproofing on legs is clearly apparent, and for £39, really chuffed.
I'm a solid build, 95kg, 5'11", and XL fits perfectly.
Highly tempted by the Aeron Softshell Jacket too, but having only yet worn my Sportful Flash jacket twice, successfully I may add, - I'm having a hard time justifying !
Please close this thread !!!0 -
I've gone for XL as well in the tights. On way tomorrow. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Anyone bough a pair of the Aeron Deep winter bibs yet?
I 'm trying to decide between the Aeron Deep winter bibs and the Aeron Windslam Roubaix Bibs.
I need the windproofing.
Obviously the Windslam ones have that, just don't know whether Deep Winter bib's waterproof fleece lined fabric equates to windproof as well?
I got some of the Windslam Roubaix Bibs the other day. Wore them on my commute in the freezing weather on Monday and they were great. You can really feel the difference the Windslam panels make, I was pretty toasty despite the chilly wind. Furthermore, I also took a pretty heavy tumble on my way home from work and they came through completely unscathed! Just a shame I can't say the same for my Alpha Jacket
What size did you get?
I went for an XS. I'm usually a Small in bib shorts, but decided to stick with what the guide recommended and I'm glad I did now.0 -

I wish. No, I topped the basket up. Took the £40 offer. Essentially that paid for most of my Gloves.
I had to be sure that, in the end, if I returned anything the spend was still north of £200 so as to gain the £160.
Just tried it all on. The Aeron stuff is great. As expected.
Keeping the windslam bibs. Good fit, arguably I might have squeezed into the large. But they fit well. The ASV jersey is nice, but nowhere near as nice as the Aeron (and much much tighter).
The Deep Winter bibs. Excellent. For Scotland I think. Too big for me, may get into a large. Because they are, essentially, a massive pair of soft-shell trousers they need to be snug so as to not wrinkle up. Lycra smooths itself out well, these don't quite do that. But a large may have sorted it. I can see them being absolutely storm proof though. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

They're both good. Get orange if you don't like the main body blue colour of the yellow one clashing with black tights. I think, overall, I should have got the Orange softshell. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

just been singing their praises on Twitter.
Wore my new Jacket today with a long sleeve windproof base layer underneath, was a bit toasty in 1 Deg C but was wearing a Rapha winter hat and the Sun was shining so not surprised. That said, I didn't feel totally over heated like i have done in the Windslam jacket, just sweating.0 -

Ahh, thought it was yellow and black. Would go with my blue Assos airjack tights then!0 -
My softshell just arrived - I went for a large as my DHB Windslam jersey was a Medium and I thought Large would be a better fit for colder weather if I've a base and a top underneath - and I think the Large is too small. :-(
Will try it on with cycling kit at the weekend to see properly.
It is nice kit though - feels properly warm. Just a pity we seem to be having Summer again this weekend !0 -

I'm a med and it's a snug fit and I thought it'd need to be swopped for a large but once you get on the bike it's perfect. Used for a commute this week and I'm really pleased with it.
Like bender, I wish I'd bought the orange and black instead of yellow and blue. The blue doesn't look right against black legs.0 -
It's a weird one. I've had plenty of red or light blue kit. Or Lime. All looks fine. But I think the reason it messes slightly with my OCD is that it's really dark blue. Almost black. But not. But I do prefer the lime colour to the orange overall so no biggyMy blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

wore the jacket with Gilet over it, & merino base layer for an hours MTB jaunt this morning, -1 Deg C average, not quick pace but not slow either, so generating some heat myself, didnt overheat or feel cold at all.
Shimano spd shoes, Defeet wooly boolies and DHB Winter overshoes, toes were a bit chilly, still debating investing in some Lenz heated socks for the winter, i have boots but even they get chilly once the winter really sets in in Germany.0 -

I think I'm convinced the L jacket is ok for me - it's not like I need lots of layers beneath it.
I went for the orange and its lovely. It's weird if the yellow is yellow and blue - are you sure the fluo isn't messing your eyes up ?
Hoping to test it out tomorrow. Gales permitting...
And nice reviews Bender - I suspect they may be dangerous for my wallet though...0 -

Good write ups and excellent timing on the R171 review, just bought a pair myself.
Da iawn!0 -
what are the Aeron bibs tights like compared to say the Veaon Roubaix or Zero?
the reason for my question, i have both the roubaix and the zeros but the fabric in the zeros pulls my kneecap out of line the roubaixs are fine in this regard as theyre a bit stretchier.
anyone have the Aeron Pro or even the new Deep Winter and can compare to the Zeros?0 -
I'd love to tell you all about my first ride with the softshell...I ordered on friday morning with next day delivery so I could use for my Sunday ride.
Somehow its magically got "lost" before the package even got picked up by DPD - but heres the best bit...I ordered matching socks which are now out of stock!
Wont be getting the jacket till Tuesday now....at least I can read all about it on Benders new blog!0 -

I got mine at 85. Never knew they'd been as low as 65
Probably won't get used this side of spring though0 -

I can't answer this in totality. But did review the Aeron windslam on the blog. I had the deep winter in the post on Friday. Those went back because, like all their ilk, they are a soft-shell trouser in tight form. And I just don't find that full soft-shell ever sits right.
The Aeron Windlam and the Zeros before don't have this because the windproof panels are only placed the front. So they fit fine if you get the right size. My yardstick is do they show any wrinkles. If they do they go back.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Bender - I know you have bought a fair bit of high end kit in your time. A Rapha v Assos v Castelli article on your blog would be a very interesting read!0
