  • Incidentally. Anyone holding out for Black Friday. Buy now, and, either pay or use paypal 14 day thingy. If the price changes within 7 days get Wiggle to price match themselves.

Bender, just putting my basket together now - I just had a thought.

If I got the Aeron Roubaix LS Jersey & Aeron Roubaix Softshell Gilet - how close would that combination come to replicating the softshell jacket?

I will probably get the jacket anyway, but just looking through the range of stuff - there will inevitably be some crossover - the jersey & gilet offers great flexibility, but I'm taking a guess the jacket will be better for the real cold days ahead.
  • Close. But the softshell sleeves are way warmer. The roubaix jersey has no windproof qualities

I swear you must be in league with the devil....

  • Wore the Jersey and Gilet today. Lovely.

You know how Wiggle do these pics:

Well, you know, they have a point. You could quite quite happily kit yourself out in nothing but this stuff

  • Shhhhh. Whisper it. Those DHB deep winter tights are back down to £75. If you can find something else you need for £25 you get £15 off. I won't write this too loudly as Wiggle monitor everything I do and price accordingly.

I ordered some of the Vaeon Zero bibs last night, mainly because of the zip at the front, and get good reviews too. Also ordered some Castelli Extremo gloves too, and some socks.....total £125, after Discount & Wiggle1 Code. Not too bad I thought.

This morning however, the Bibs were reduced from £65 to £40, the Gloves a little too, and all in all, £28 less.
Chatted on their online chat window - & apparently their Price Match doesnt apply to their own Prices ?? WTF ??

So - simply re-ordered all, Saved £28, and the original order will just go back .......Crazy.

Yikes.....I have 200 quids worth of stuff in my basket to cover christmas presents and myself.
No way am I hitting buy until Friday to see what happens!
  • If they're doing that it's silly. They get charged by Collect+ for the return. See if you can find a more sympathetic cs adviser!

I agree, but that online Chat things aint brill, and 1st time I tied it, it wouldnt scroll so I couldnt see their replies ! Couldnt find a phone number, and despite asking, they clearly wouldnt call me, to discuss etc.
Tried it again on my phone, and despite me pointing out how stupid it was, she wouldnt budge.
So, just re-ordered, no skin off my nose, its all on Paypal's Pay After Delivery etc anyway.

    *shakes head*

Reply on Twitter re Non- Price Match:
"Sorry, our policy is strict on this as promotions start & finish frequently this time of year."

Clearly, your prices could reduce at any point, so keep an eye on your items, and if so, re-buy & return originals within time scale allowed.
  • Ah well. And, I guess, they are the only outlet for DHB. Anyway, everyone can buy today and hold out for Friday. I don't think we'll see huge differences. And, indeed, they may go up!

Still seems stupid, price matching others whilst not their own, particularly when anyone can do as I have & will simply return/re-order at lower price, which costs them money as you say for the Collect+ service.

    hey ho.
  • took delivery of a jacket and gilet yesterday, jacket is **snug**! I have an XL Windslam jacket from last year and thats a bit loose in XL but the Aeron is too tight, so ordered an XXL! The gilet is tight too, the thing that bothers me is that the holes in the side of the gilet to access the pockets create a fold that sticks out, have ordered a size up on this too to see if its just the fit thats causing the folds poking out, anyone else noticed this with the Gilet?
  • Sounds like the fit. I wore the gilet yesterday and found it excellent. Indeed, those pocket things are genius. See what the XXL is like.

  • Wore my jacket today for the commute with a craft extreme base layer, it was fairly nippy at 0545 so I had the gilet on as well and both worked perfectly. Wore just the jacket on the way home and I'd say it's considerably warmer than my alpha jersey. Overall I reckon this kit is the dogs although I'm not sure on the yellow and navy combo! It'd look much better in yellow and black.

Yeah, I got the yellow and blue cos the Dale was green. I've no idea why, that's my summer bike :D In retrospect I should have gone orange and black. It's a minor niggle cos the green is very very bright indeed. It's nice to have something other than black I guess.

Anyone bought a pair of the Aeron Deep winter bibs yet?
I 'm trying to decide between the Aeron Deep winter bibs and the Aeron Windslam Roubaix Bibs.
    I need the windproofing.
Obviously the Windslam ones have that, just don't know whether Deep Winter bib's waterproof fleece lined fabric equates to windproof as well?
  • I'm torn on that issue. I'm erring towards the normal windslam

I got some of the Windslam Roubaix Bibs the other day. Wore them on my commute in the freezing weather on Monday and they were great. You can really feel the difference the Windslam panels make, I was pretty toasty despite the chilly wind. Furthermore, I also took a pretty heavy tumble on my way home from work and they came through completely unscathed! Just a shame I can't say the same for my Alpha Jacket :(

Most of the DHB Bibs get great reviews it looks, but tbh, the reason I went for the Vaeon Zeros was purely beacuse of the footloops, - just cant understand why all bibs dont have them......

i found with the Aeron Roubaix Bib Tight that the legs were so snug around the ankle with the zip that needing loops wouldnt be required...

cant wait to try my new tights and the roubaix windslam softshell...great quality for a good price....even the girlfriend was impressed with the price :)

You're going to find one of them achingly beautiful and the other aesthetically pleasing. One of them will be warm enough, the other toasty. You're going to get a similar level of rain performance. One of them will make you feel good wearing it. The other feel good having bought it. I'll leave you to determine which of these applies to which................

    :D very good bender!
If the Rapha had some hi-vis I would keep it no matter what - but its all black, which is a major downside in my book....so will be interesting to see how close the DHB gets in terms of fit and quality - could make the decision harder than I thought!
