I know nowt about modern BMX - weird seeing the rear cog south of the rear dropout, is that the norm?

Doesn't look like it from this picture of the other ones linked below it: http://www.sugarcayne.com/2016/08/swiss ... avid-graf/

Note the QR pin. After the qualifying the French guy swapped out his super short post for a super long one so he could go and pedal to warm down

It is for GT's pro racing frames. BMXes usually have either front or rear-facing horizontal dropouts, which allows the wheelbase and chain tension to be adjusted, but has the risk of the axle moving on a hard landing, and having to reset everything each time you take the wheel out. The current design trend as seen on that GT is for adjustable sliding vertical dropouts, which has come over from the single speed MTB world

The main advantages of this type of dropout seems to be that the wheel can be removed and replaced without having to reset your wheelbase and chain tension settings. Theoretically it also allows different axle systems (3/8", 15mm and 20mm) to be used on the same frame by just changing the dropout.

The first ones to appear on BMXes were on Staats frames:

Jason Halverson, the owner and frame designer of Staats moved to GT and presumably took the idea with him. Here he is showing the features of the prototype GT Carbon frame back in 2013:

Discs on a TT (Tri) bike always seem a bit pointless, even with little covers over them. Pretty well executed in this example though.

I wonder if faired discs are better than rim brakes in the wind tunnel?

Nah. It looks considerably bulkier in the seat tube that the Canyon.

I don't buy in to the whole 'Italianess' of buying a Colnago. But this new one, mhmm..

It looks dangerously expensive to me.

Aero road bikes always have a premium, Colnagos always have a premium, and that one has Super Record and Bora Ultras. £10k? More? Wouldn't be surprised if it was £4k+ for the frame (based on what the Bianchi Oltre XR2 frame was going for...)

Price is supposed to be below the C60. I'm quite certain it won't be by much. Will definately be comparably placed to Pinarello Dogma F8 and Bianchi Oltre XR4.

I think it looks really good though. We need more high def pics of the paint jobs, especially the black and gold version he is holding. Will be produced in Taiwan though unlike the C60.

  • What a mess, laces, velcro and boa? Getting all the advantages of each system also gets all the disadvantages of each system..... Looped velcro straps were always fine for me (since primary school ;) )
  • Really grim.
