It was obvious G was going to pull out, not sure why he didn't take his name out of the hat to begin with. He has been foobed since last week of the tour. Vuelta he was nowhere most of the race, which is completely understandable.
Really looking forward to his classic season next year, plus another tip at top 5 TdF.0 -
Yeah he's fried, shame, but he wouldn't probably be able to influence the result on current form.0

Weather forecast from on the ground (work colleague of mine lives in Richmond) - Saturday, mostly sunny with a very small chance of rain.Little boy to Obama: "My Dad says that you read all our emails"

The Elites are not until the weekend after though? Or is the weather very consistent there?0 -
Monster team if they work well together. Monster.
Would be a real fairytale for Tom going into his final season.
I have more hope than expectation...
Only just seen the Belgian selection after my holiday. Really happy for Iljo as he's been a great team rider all season and Thijs Benoot is a great shout for gaining experience. The rest aren't from Gent, so, you know, meh."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

They've got lots going for them, except an out and out sprinter (Boonen and Gilbert and Van Avaermat are all quick, but none are close to Greipel or Cav in terms of their finish). they also have to make sure they know who they are working for... it'll be one of these 3...0 -
Belgian selection:
Heren elite: Tiesj Benoot Lotto-Soudal
Tom Boonen Etixx-Quick Step
Philippe Gilbert BMC
Iljo Keisse Etixx-Quick Step
Jens Keukeleire Orica
Nikolas Maes Etixx-Quick Step
Greg Van Avermaet BMC
Stijn Vandenbergh Etixx-Quick Step
Sep Vanmarcke Lotto-Jumbo
4 reserves:
Jens Debusschere Lotto-Soudal
Yves Lampaert Etixx-Quick Step
Jürgen Roelandts Lotto-Soudal
Tosh Van der Sande Lotto-Soudal
That's like the 2013-14 Chelsea team, i.e. it's good.0 -

Sickeningly talented0 -
joke that G isn't going, Sky have ruined his mind by making him think he could be a GT GC man. He should focus on classics. He could have had the jersey.0

Eh? 'ruined his mind'??
i'm not the biggest Brailsford fan, but that's OTT0 -

I think it's his own doing, actually. He obviously fancies a proper go at GTs and he might not be far away, which is why Sky are supporting him at it. But if you ask me, he should have turned down the Vuelta knowing that this Worlds' course might have given him a decent shot.
I agree with you though, he coulda bin a contendahIt's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0 -

I haven't followed it that closely but if you've a space and you can fill it I doubt BC would not take a full compliment, even if the poor sod only lasted 25% of the race.
I'm really looking forward to these Wc's0 -
No news yet. The Yates x 2 said no for the original long list. Maybe they reconsider, they both have a shot at Lombardia - maybe they'd prefer to stay in Europe and do Piemonte as the run-in to it0 -

Blythe might be the other option? He's the other WT level GB rider available, although I don't think him and Ellingworth particularly get on.0 -
Li'l Pete ruled himself out of consideration as his and his fiancee's baby was due on the day of the RR.
But li'l li'l Pete has arrived this morning
Congrats and all that...and maybe...just maybe....0 -
I think they should take one domestic rider like they used to - Ian Bibby/Rob Partridge/Lampier etc and pull them after half way - better than some performances (like last years 7 DNF's)0

Think the gap is too big now, more likely take russ downing, has a sprint but not sure if the legs for 260k?0 -
I'm hoping for a good race,
Long list of potential winners, does anyone actually see any point in Cav going would it ever come to a bunch sprint?
Do you think Domoulin has ruined his chances going to hard in the Vuelta? I think Dennis could be a good shout, Kiriyenka as a long shot.
Tom says pretty much he's not hoping for much here: http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/world-championships-countdown-tom-dumoulin-q-and-a/0 -
I had the pleasure of photographing Jessie Walker for a day last year. A really lovely girl and clearly has her Dad's class in a bike. Big step up for her his year and she's doing well. Obviously not a leader for GB but one to watch a few years down the line.Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0

Daniel Benson has just tweeted: 'From what I understand Adam Yates will now ride Worlds'0

Yes I think there is merit in him going. To be honest he is a tremendous team player with an incredible work ethic Give him a domestiques role and he'll put a big turn in. He's done this previously at the Worlds when other GB riders were fairly anonymous and he's quite prepared to role his sleeves up when riding for the IOM0 -

Absolutely right. See 2012 & 2013 Worlds for examples of this.0 -
Got to be Stybar's day hasn't it? That looks almost like Urban CX course in parts
Disastrously for my viewing pleasure, I'm moving house next weekend0 -
I thought the doubt in Cavendish's participation was down to the injury from his ToB crash. Not much point in taking him if he's injured.0

If he's recovered in time, I'd expect they'd take him but to work for someone else as he's proven over again that he's pretty good at that. Question is whether he has recovered enough. He was stuck on the turbo, but seems that he was out riding the Essex roads with Geoghegan Hart yesterday.0 -
Confirmed that Cavendish is not riding. Wonder if he is still going to Abu Dhabi?0

So Adam's definitely in, but Simon is a strong possibility as well now.0 -

Or will they go for someone like Adam Blythe to have a sprinter? or are they happy that Ben Swift could be suited?
Who is / are GB's protected rider(s)?0
