Richmond World Championships 2015 pre-race
Netherlands first of the bigger nations to announce its Worlds selection:
RR:
Niki Terpstra
Lars Boom
Tom Dumoulin
Sebastian Langeveld
Bauke Mollema
Robert Gesink
Dylan van Baarle
Jos van Emden
Pim Ligthart
TT:
Tom Dumoulin
Wilco Kelderman

Considering it's a flattish/'Flemish' parcours, not sure what Gesink and Mollema are doing there. I can imagine Trek likes to have Mollema around, but Gesink? Someone like Hofland, Van Poppel, Slagter would have made much more sense

Too many chiefs? It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0 -
Top too are chiefs, ones below will have to be Indian as they've got no chance of winning0
-
Not even naming a woman's squad... terrible. It's not so much about winning, I just hate losing.0

They have named a women's squad, BTW. Same national coach. It's just that not all international media report on it. Here it is. Happy?:

Thanks. I even posted on that thread!
So, it looks like Cancellera will be eyeing it up after finding some form in the Vuelta. I'm struggling to see how selective a 100m climb can be... even if it is steep at the bottom. This reminds of the potential energy calculations in the tdf and whether it would be possible to free-wheel up.0 -

I've just put £10 of G at 40-1 for this race. Paddy Power odds are very good.

It would be a pretty golden season for my man Degenkolb if he could manage it. He's down for the Vuelta, so will either be burnt out or on form.
Presumably Cavendish should also be keen.0 -
Checked out some old weather details - not a huge number of rain days in the week of the championships (11 out of 40 had more than a trace) but when it had rained it was proper rain; there have been three days with over an inch of rain... on cobbles. Spring Classics specialists form an orderly queue0

Cavendish needs this in a Lazarus manner0

Would be the best 1 dayer season since 2005.0 -

Nah. Only 1 monument.0 -
Not sure where to put this - Cancellara sounds thoroughly miserable.

That reads like a man ready for a normal life.“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0

Rod Ellingworth said on the bonus Cycling Podcast that Cav would have to be on 'super' form to win.
So he won't win then...
Tomekke's been sprinting well of late and really fancies it by the sounds0 -
Kittel not going to the Worlds. He really is having a total shocker of a season...0

Nah, Boonen's season was better. Well, more prestigious anyway.
MSR, Paris Roubaix and the Worlds would be a ridiculously good season. I quite fancy Kristoff for it though.0 -
Unfortunately Cancellara will not be competing.Contador is the Greatest0

Unfortunately Cancellara will not be competing.

Devastating news. Had (rather optimistically) hoped for one last Boonen vs Spartacus showdown with Fabian coming away with the stripes. Now can only hope that Sagan will manage to keep his form over the next few weeks without the vuelta..0

Poor Canc, hope that's not the end...It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0 -

3 team leaders for the men: Boonen, Van Avermaet and Gilbert. Vanmarcke mentioned in interview also expecting leadership. 3 is already too much. Sporza commentators shocked Roelandts wasn't picked0
