Froome such class, good with the fans and media, the greatest clean rider of his generation.0

Did Valverde really just have the nerve to try and beat Froome on the line?
Bonus seconds, innit
Yeah but he doesn't them does he? He pulls moves like that and then people wonder why he's disliked.
Tb, I don't think he ever wondered why he's disliked. More than a hint of the Hinault about him in that respect
Oh I don't think he gives a rat's bottom, but some people wonder why he isn't everyone's favourite rider. I don't really care it's just so 'Valverde'. It would have been funnier if he hadn't pulled a move like that if I'm honest.Correlation is not causation.0 -

froome did not look happy the whole stage never mind the alpe. proper suffering going on all over that hill...looked pretty human from everyone. anacona and geinez were both domestiques in the right place at the right time"If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. I watched to see if he would, he didn't look like it, then somehow managed to just sneak a tyre in front while looking like he was just rolling in. Some part of me just has to respect that sort of underhand craftiness.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -

Froomey! Couldn't be more chuffed for him after the crap he's put up with (including again today). Two time Tour de France winner.
Tremendous effort from Nairo. They've had a good old battle.
Karma for Nibali.0 -

as for the booing...time will tell. we have always had this but perhaps social media is still a immature form of communication yet to find civility and a self regulating culture"If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. good point by imlach... the crosswind stage 2 that won it."If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. What we're witnessing here is the world's most high profile mid-life crisis" Afx237vi Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:43 pm0

Here's a prediction.. Froome won't do the Tour next year..
Possible. Could see him doing the Giro. Depends on the route I guess. It's due for a Tour with some actual time trialling in it.0 -
ITV have confirmed Quintana lost the tour by the gap between Quintana and Froome on Stage 2."One thing that is worse than Carlton Kirby: people complaining about Carlton Kirby.
Talk about first world problems."

I think Sky will retool. Porte going, Koenig and Roche not been good enough. Only Poels an G really delivered climb support.0

One thing to point out about teh zoomers is that they believe that the peloton is still the same as it was in the 90s. They genuinely believe that all the teams have a team wide doping program. It's one of the reasons they're so keen to prove Sky are at it - if team clean are then so are all the others. that and the fact that some of them probably believe the clean spin is purely done to troll them. Not troll the rest us, mind. Just them.
This *will* just back up their on-the-fly, everything-proves-they-are-right mentality.Team My Man 2018: David gaudu, Pierre Latour, Romain Bardet, Thibaut pinot, Alexandre Geniez, Florian Senechal, Warren Barguil, Benoit Cosnefroy0 -

Konig had the Giro in his legs. Not many Giro riders performed well. Can't see many (teammates or leaders) doing Giro-Tour double next year.0 -

Important to remember that Koenig did the Giro and nabbed at top ten on GC.Correlation is not causation.0 -

Landa and a few of the Movistar riders coming in. Konig rode the Giro to be fair, maybe that's why he was off at times.0 -
Was also interesting to hear Brailsford yesterday talking about th importance of la Vuelta as prep for th tour.
i was boring a friend with that one when we watched the opening TT.
edit: and yeah. The giro-tour even for doms doesn't look like a good approach.Team My Man 2018: David gaudu, Pierre Latour, Romain Bardet, Thibaut pinot, Alexandre Geniez, Florian Senechal, Warren Barguil, Benoit Cosnefroy0 -

ITV have confirmed Quintana lost the tour by the gap between Quintana and Froome on Stage 2.
But that doesn't take into account the effort that Froome will have put in on that stage and other stages to take a lead and to maintain it.
You can't say that if Froome and Teeny Tana had finished with the same time on stage 2 that the race would have played out the way it did.
It's fun to play numbers but it's not a scientific exercise.Correlation is not causation.0 -
