Well Mick Rogers has a slightly different story... he said (as recorded on the ITV podcast) that he put the chain back on Contador's bike and sent him on his way.
Presumably, this is true... Of course it is entirely plausible that Contador's machine wasn't operational and maybe Sagan gave Contador his bike a little further down the descent... but Rogers makes no mention of this which is odd (unless he didn't follow for some reason).
Yes this is definitely true as shown in the video. But he had to stop shortly after due to a broken front wheel which is when he stopped then switched to Sagan's bike.
It does sound perfectly reasonable, just seems odd that Rogers didn't mention it (he gave a fairly clear account otherwise in the interview)... presumably Rogers was there, even if it took him a few moments to get going he would have come across the bike change taking place down the road.
I am (mainly) stirring, but there is always something mysterious about Contador's incidents.0 -
So have what AC said.
And the video at the crash scene.
And Rogers confirming what our eyes could see.
And Sagan shown in the video as definitely being on a different bike to the one at the crash site (white vs black bar tape). So some swap happens between Sagan and (someone else from his team).
And Contador is shown at the finish line on "his" bike (which could plausibly be a spare).

Am I the only one having a problem with Rogers casually throwing Contador's bottle over the guardrail into the valley?

Littering perspective. Or, well just in general, really.
I mean, leave it on the side of the road. Don't bloody throw it into nature..
So unnecessary.0 -

Photo was from yday I just cropped it. Look at the video I posted and go to 24:05, Sagan is on Contador's bike.
Imagine descending a mountain like that on someone elses bike. Can be sure he will lose time there.
He looked in very good form today so would find it hard to believe he was going to get dropped. In fact he was planning a little move at the end.
I doubt that. He started the race fatigued from the Giro, proven by his time losses on other climbs, and I doubt he has rested and recovered after 16 stages of the Tour. Unless of course he is a superman.
I believe Rodgers/Tinkoff were fined for littering re the bidon incident.0
