It was Sagan's bike for the descent, a change to one that fit, and riding solo - all while Majka was torching his reputation for places on the stage, that cost Alberto a chunk of that time.
At what point did he take Sagan's bike? He rides off on his own from that footage

Edit: Off course a couple of hundred metres further down the climb he might have realised there was a problem and changed it then. But in that footage he defo rides off on his own bike, you can see his number, 41, on it.
That would explain the time loss a bit more too.0 -

Saw the video of Kiwa's abandon.
Had to chuckle at the abuse he was getting from the DS.
Incidentally, has anyone heard the reason either of them abandoned?0 -
Etixx management seem to enjoy giving Kwiatkowski a bit of abuse.0

Footage of Contador after crash

Note he does not even try to get off the racing line. Not exactly showing respect to other riders is he. Thankfully no one else hit him. All clearly cornering better than he did. He only loses 25 secs getting back on the bike but was over 2 mins down at the finish. Probably would have been dropped on the final climb anyway at that rate
2 x fines  Littering and aren't you supposed to move over to the right ?0 -

He's leaving for more money.

So is it possible they try to put AC back on his original bike and then find the bike is no good and then Sagan gives AC his bike further down the road? AC would have lost half a minute to a minute in that original incident and he ended up over two minutes down so there may have been more farting about with bikes further down the descent. If Sagan was with AC on the way down then it's unlikely AC/Sagan would have lost more time as they can both descend.“Life is like riding a bicycle. In the footage I saw, Sagan and one other stopped with AC. There was an issue with AC's bike they weren't able to resolve between them, so Sagan gave up his bike. AC got to the bottom of the descent and swapped back to his spare.0 -

Bit slow on the old duplicate posting on my phone!! Watched again and everybody def leaves the clip on their own bike, as you say Sagan and Bert must have swapped further down out of shot after AC finds his bike being not so rideable after all.Edinburgh Revolution Curve

BMC are saying TJ abandoned due to respiratory infection he's had since stage 13.

AC stopped three times on the way down then? Blimey, hence the two minutes plus he lost. Ahhh...“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving”- Albert Einstein

Mathias Frank is 8th on GC. How did that happen? That's some top class Zubeldia work.
I noticed him today for the first time, while scanning GC for Majka. His name is ironically impossible to miss. (Frank rode out of his skin from the break when they were given silly time by the peloton.)...a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -

True. He's been top 15 since stage 10 but before today his best stage position was 18th.0 -

Someone on another forum put Pinot's fall down to a pedal strike. I just watched the replay a few times and you can definitey see him coast around the first part of the hairpin and then with his first turn of the cranks his LH pedal strikes, lifting the backwheel slightly and throws him off.0

Definitely. Watched highlights with a mate earlier and he spotted that straight away so we "rewound" it to confirm - I'd missed it on the live coverage.0 -

I did wonder whether our lucky fan we could see with a camera on the hillside in the tv-coverage would deliver. He sure has. Of all places to watch the race he picks the descent and exactly the place where Alberto crashes. The sneaky fellow here knew something!

I think that QS is the environment for you if you're one of those people who can get motivated by being yelled at.
