So, after plenty of fighting talk from the Corbynistas, who apart from Mamba is going to take me up on the bet? Mambe at least made half a bet
Roll up, roll up and put your money where your mouth is
No 1/2 a bet from me, as thats impossible, so Full bet dude, i drink a lot of beer, so that ll tak your losses to around a oner
the more i read about this and the seemingly panicked statements from tories past and present, i m beginning to taste that Sol sooner than i thought and as try as you might to belittle a £50 bet, either way the money isnt going to you or i, but to a decent charity, talking of which, who are you giving your money too, you havnt yet said, YOU do plan on honouring it, dont you? im beginning to doubt your integrity
there is a lot of anger in your replies and as usaul a few insults too.
Makes me wonder why you are so anti Corbyn/Labour? bit like Putin and his hatred of the gay community a secret socialist perhaps? at least Ballys arguments are coherent.
As i asked you, defend the current system on housing benefit/private rent, backup your statement on social housing? you dont or perhaps suggest why you think the media isnt an influence on voting patterns?
No, a bit like the pm at PMQ's you completely fail to make your argument.0 -
It is without doubt that the majority media is right wing.
That he will get an unfair press. That the press will dig up all sorts of cr4p and dish it out/distort it.
Hell knows that if we had a predominantly left wing press, they might have slung mud around regarding Cameroon's 'membership' of the Bullingdon brigade and all the 4rsehole activities they got up to but we don't, so that sort of thing gets swept under the carpet.
Case point - current banner on the Telegraph website - Corbyn gives jobs for the boys as unions threaten to use his Labour leadership victory to cripple Britain
That last bit is just pathetically puerile
Still doesn't beat the Daily Fail describing him as a Stalinist.0 -

And he's off with a cracking start. Shadow Chancellor wants to honour IRA thugs and renationalise the banks. Oh and he would like to have assassinated Lady T which no doubt gives him kudos with a lot of you.
Women in top jobs - er no. Lefty placemen instead.
Good start to dealing with legitimate questions as well.

I don't agree with McDonnell's statements, but both the Blairite wing of Labour and the Tories have done far worse IMO.0

If Corbyn generates a lot of support over the next 5 years and the Tories get twitchy, it will affect their policies come the next general election. So win or loose, Corbyn will have an effect on the British Political Landscape.
Maybe he will drag some of the topics in to the public domain at a different angle and get people discussing things like they did in Scotland, instead of this one dimensional clap trap the Tories spout.Fitter....healthier....more productive.....0 -

I dunno. If he has to ad hoc interviews everywhere he walks he'll get nowhere. Do we sign our entire lives over to Sky when we become a public persona? My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

He was asked a legitimate question and all he needed say was something along the lines of 'I've appointed people on merit' or 'I will be making a full statement in due course.' Anything. ffs.
Being asked questions goes with the territory of party leader. Instead he blanked them and complained to an aid that people were bothering him.
Unbelievable. I have seen political leaders give evasive answers but never look straight ahead, keep walking away and refuse to utter a word like this.0 -
Tories now changing their tune and running scared that Corbyn is going to change things... http://news.sky.com/story/1551793/no-laughing-matter-tories-change-tune-on-corbyn"The Prince of Wales is now the King of France" - Calton Kirby0

Or if Corbyn alienates Middle England (After all that is the vote Labour need to attract to win) and Labour slides in opinion polls, the Tories can crack on with free rein.0 -

Yes but he was asked it in the middle of the street at night. If it's a legitimate question then it can be asked at a legitimate time. Not one aimed toward getting a controversial response for Sky news to make a fuss aboutWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

You think they'd have stopped following if he'd said those words It's gutter journalism. Nothing new. Is he right or wrong to fail to engage? For me it's refreshing to see him stick to his principles. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

And some of his policies are, as I have already said, just mainstream policies in Iran, Argentina and Venezuela0

I've already told you why I am anti-Corbyn/Labour - because I believe they will damage this country. See my previous posts. Or have you not read them like the one where I nominated my chosen charity?"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
^^^ Stevo, you're implying people are stupid for supporting Corbyn. Seeing as a couple of forum members have already said that they will vote for him, are you really denying that you have resorted to insults on this thread?0

You came out with the statement that a return to social housing would lead to mass homelessness?? how? i obviously miss all the posts where you defend some of your more out landish claims.
How can Corbyn and the labour party be a threat to anyone? you and the bookies are certain he will lead labour into a fringe protest party.
and i do sincerely apologise for missing your post on a dementia charity, a very worthwhile cause, especially as you seem to think many on here are suffering from it already0 -

His politics are threat to

36% may have voted for the conservatives but it doesnt mean they will serve their interests.
tbh lab or con, they all serve the v wealthy, the city and the financial service sector, not the nhs or education or transport, leisure facilities, social care, manufacturing or anything else that most people do or will need in their lives, if your wealthy, these things gradually become unimportant, the higher up the laddar you are.
which why Corbyn might well energise the 34% who dont vote to go to the polls, either to stop him or support him.0 -

Go back a couple of hundred years and tell people about the right to vote being extended to all adults, an end to war in western Europe and decreasing conflict throughout the world, a welfare state, republicanism, etc. Conservatives would have said pretty much the same thing then.0 -

Tory supporters would do well to stop being so smug.
Of all the parties to be pleased it should be the lib dems who should, in theory, have a better chance at picking up a lot of centrist votes - those disolusioned with the Torys (especially those who voted out of fear of union break up) and those centrist labour voters who are turned off.
Tories had the centrist labour lot pinned, mainly because of Osbourne. They appeared the same just less competent.
Corbyn is fundamentally different. It will be more mud slinging and saying things like "he's dangerous" which can, and this is always a soft spot for Tories, come across as arrogant and just plain mud slinging.
Question is more around how much of the mud will stick and how Tories avoid looking smug & arrogant.
Naturally the politicians should be a bit better at it than Stevo, but then it's their job0 -

...or. to be slightly more clear, there are an awful lot of political theories that seem to hit the rocks rather badly when they intersect with reality - hence the number of academic economists, even nobel prize winning ones, who still do things like write letters to the Guardian rather quaintly insisting that the world is flat because their theories state that it must be.0
