Top end Bib shorts

Got quite a few sets of cash kit, find it real comfy, certainly better than my giordana forma red shorts i had before them, a mate also has them and says he prefers them to his assos shorts. Not heard many people race about rapha shorts and tights, overpriced and rarely to people like to admit their £100+ bib shorts weren't worth it

Just completed my first ride with LP Classics. The company advised small. Leg grippers extremely tight but despite that they managed to ride up by the end and felt quite constricting. Pad was comfortable. Couldn't wait to get them off when I got home. Shocked to see the degree of wear (piling) where they'd been in contact with the saddle, especially on one side for some reason. I've emailed LP with a photo and requested refund. Not happy. OK they are cheap but beginning to think you get what you pay for. Never had problems like this with previous shorts.0

Hey, has anyone got any experience of POC bib shorts? I've noticed them at 50% off here which seems like a good deal or are they still overpriced at £100?

That sounds a bit strange, I've got really skinny thighs and my LP bibs didn't move at all on a 100 mile ride today. I've given them a good check over and there is a tiny bit of piling underneath, maybe 1cm or so on one side.0 -

I too am pretty skinny. Perhaps the riding up is an indication that the shorts are overall too small for me.0 -

The Rapha Classic bibs are best I've ever used, bar none. The cut, fabric and pad are all top-notch. Expensive yes, fair enough if you don't like the branding, but they're outstanding shorts.0 -
So my LP classic bibs arrived today, fit and the pad seems good if a little nappy-like.
Has anyone got any reports on the long term durability? As above, the textured fabric does seem quite likely to wear. It also seems a little see through compared to the regular smooth fabric... not sure if anyone else has noticed this?0 -
Does anybody know if La Passione do an Autumn/Winter range?0

Not yet, but when I asked they suggested some new lines might be appearing sometime around September.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

Its great to hear CASP Cycling being mentioned on this forum considering we have only been established for a year.
I'm biased of course but have worn every manufacturers shorts out there in my 25 years of cycling.....hell up until 5 or 7 years ago we never really were too bothered what we wore but times have changed and everyone demands great technical clothing that also looks good and I believe ours match any for comfort and definitely beat most on price. I'm that confident that if you purchase and don't like I will refund your money! Please take a look at the site as we have a few good looking outfits available with some great technical winter kit coming and we do custom and can supply in 3-4 weeks.Thanks0 -
Wore my LP shorts and top combo today. Thought they were pretty fine - I think I liked the shorts a bit more than the top (my essentials case, phone and pump didn't feel as though they were sat "right" in the pockets) - the shorts felt decent on a 20 mile run out. I normally wear Rapha bibs as they are the most comfortable shorts I have found out there - the LP ones didn't feel as good, but did feel pretty good.http://www.georgesfoundation.org

Just a thing I've noticed - it looks like your sizing chart is inadvertently in cm for tops and inches for shorts? But marked as cm for shorts? A 33.5 CM waist is like, pretty tiny? I hate size charts in CM - perhaps do it in both CM/Inches? Cheers
EDIT - I've just noticed that you've done WIDTH rather than all the way round - so half the normal measurement!! That is properly confusing!

All feedback appreciated whether it be good or bad, I'm going to try and amend sizing chart as I agree it should be inches but was put together by the producing factory.
Some more plain mainstream stuff to come if current stuff is too risky.

Has anyone used these shorts?
Rapha seem to be well regarded and these aren't too covered in Sky branding....
Not sure if this is a decent price? Still new to it all!

Just saw the e-mail earlier, went for some mitts, merino polo, jersey and one of those vest things to get free postage. Will report back on quality and fit etc.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

*Sigh*. Yet more forum advertising.
At least you haven't gone to the trouble of creating lots of false user profiles to create a buzz about your products like others have done before. So you get credit for that at least.0 -
CASP it's not exactly spam but it is unsolicited and unpaid for advertising that you are indulging in. I'm going to let this go as other users seem genuinely interested in your products. However note that this thread is not a marketing channel for you so please keep your volume of posts down, I have deleted several. Also I have deleted your comments referencing other manufacturers - please refrain from doing so again or you will be banned.BikeRadar Community0

Just back from a very hot week in the Alps so can report further on the LP shorts. I had bought both classic and Passione versions. Classics wore badly after 1 ride but I suspect stitching on new saddle was implicated in that. Didn't wear he classics this trip but tried the Passiones. They were more comfortable than the classics because the coloured grip band isn't as tight and lacks gel grippers. However pad is too big (for me). Almost wonder if they use one size pad in all shorts regardless of short size (mine are small).
Also, without going into too my detail, I had some irritation from the line of tiny stitches used to attach pad to shorts - right down the centre of the pad. Use your imagination...
On inspecting my older shorts, neither had stitching there, for good reason I'd imagine.
Finally they were much warmer to wear than the other shorts I took (Campagnolo and Sugoi)
The material is a lot thicker and despite the perception of ventilation holes the LPs are more suitable for cooler weather. So probably OK for shorter rides in the British 'summer' but very disappointing overall given they are Italian and branded as summer shorts.
I've learned my lesson. The adage 'buy cheap, buy twice' is true.0 -
Well I was on the sidelines, hesitating, but that's me out. The reason I'm selling my Assos Equipe S7's is that I find them too bulky, too restrictive, which is the last thing you want when you're racing and/or it's hot.
I got a pair of Rapha Team Pro shorts in the sale, (135 Euros, that's as high as I'm going)) I'll see how they are.0 -
Just to note that Rapha also stitch their pads down the centre line as well.0

I haven't had any issues with the LP offerings, but coincidentally have just bought a pair of Rapha lightweight shorts in their sale - somehow the XS fits me!! Seemingly (for me) with the same level of compression that the Small LPs do.
So I will also be able to give my honest comparison - but not for a few weeks, as I'll be going to Spain for plenty of cycling next week.
I'll be taking mostly my top end shorts, LP, Rapha and Etxeondo, so a good chance for comparisons in what is likely to be a pretty warm environment - well I hope so anyway!
Oh and just to add - I ordered the vest thing, polo shirt, gloves and the merino black and yellow jersey from LP, which were delivered in very good time.
The gloves were ok, they only had xs, and they fitted me, but didn't bloe me away - good quality though, but in black and grey I found them a bit uninspiring.
The jersey was lovely, and is being kept - good quality, merino mix I think, it said on the label but I forget the exact ratios - zip garage which I always like, why do not all manufacturers put them in?
The ls polo was fine across the shoulders, but the sleeves were way too long, and as the yellow bit was kind of hard and relatively inflexible, which was not clear in the pics, it was a pain to roll up, so that is going back.
The vest thing I merely ordered to avoid postage cost, but again that was a little strange fitting, and not reallt cyclign specific, so that went back as well.
£11.10 to send them all back - not too bad.
EDIT: Just to add, they tell me a new winter range is due out on September 20th.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

Took delivery of a pair of Rapha Team Pro shorts yesterday, (black with light blue stripe), and rode them in a 100km race today.
Very nice indeed, my best shorts yet. I'm quite sceptical about Rapha, and I think they're overpriced, but these were 135 Euros in the sale down from 220, which brings them into my psychological max price range.
Normally Medium in Castelli, and I went for Small, and they're tight, but a good fit.
Very comfortable, quality materials, looks good. For me at least, better than Assos S7 (too bulky), and slightly better quality than Castelli Free Aero.0 -
135 Eur!? Bloody hell that's cheap! They're 140 gbp in the UK even on sale! I have the LP ones, rapha pro team and castelli FAR in medium and castelli were comfiest but I don't like the graphics and rather disappointingly fell apart but I got a refund no questions asked.
The castellis were also tested on another bike (although same make model of saddle) which may have contributed.0 -

Yeah I thought so too. It was 150E, with a 15 off code. Freepost. They were supposed to be signed for, and I was out when they came, but luckily the postman just chucked them over the gate!!0 -

Just tried out my LP shorts today on a 6 hour 109 mile ride and am very pleased. They compared very favourably with my current assos and castelli free aero shorts. Pad seemed to work well. For the first 50 miles I would say they were more comfortable, but in the remaining miles I did develop some discomfort but always do in the more expensive offerings anyway, so no difference there. Would be happy to buy more pairs in the future.0
