BREXIT - Is This Really Still Rumbling On? 😴

aha, makes sense now as in 'was part of the UK but is now part of the EU in effect when it comes to customs'.pblakeney said:
Precisely, N.I. This is the area in which DDraver works and was referring to.yorkshireraw said:
? All of the UK WAS part of the EU. I'm not sure I understand your point - are you talking about NI?pblakeney said:
It is quite possible that a significant amount of businesses had not considered a part of the UK to suddenly effectively become part of the EU.yorkshireraw said:
Whilst I think Brexit is a very bad idea that has subsequently been managed very badly, by bad people for bad reasons (vs. the common good) - any business that had a reasonable amount of EU trade would, one would expect, have taken some interest in how to manage things after Jan 1. It's not like it's not been in the news for 4.5 years. Bizarre.ddraver said:To give you some idea we're increasingly getting calls from people who haven't registered with customs, haven't registered for EORI numbers etc etc who expect us to make all the customs procedures disappear for them. We are talking significant businesses
What do you want us to do about it?
Welkom to de Brexit sir, I'm sorry
Anyway, seems time to try and get another Josh Berry riff on the boards...

I figured using cycling kit was a decent case example for the forum, given, y'know, we all buy it.Dorset_Boy said:
It was Twattered and reposted on here as if it was new news when in fact Rose made the decision and announced it pre-Christmas I believe. There was even a BR thread on it at the time.surrey_commuter said:
do you not think that it is easiest for us to analyse the impact of Brexit on the UK cycling community?Dorset_Boy said:
That Rose Bikes story isn't 'news' as it was announced weeks ago.rick_chasey said:
Your twatterer needs to keep up!
So far it seems to have had a negative impact on choice and a upwards pressure on prices.
Feel free to add Brexit related good news stories for consumers and or manufacturers and retailers.
Why reguritate old news if there are plenty of incidences of new bad news?
So much for Brexit helping the hard working, low pay man, when it just makes things more expensive, eh?1 -

I never liked (X) anyway
I've already got loads of (X) so I don't care if the price goes up
Actually (X) is bad for the environment so it's good we can't get it now
Lol remainers are unhappy so this is a good thing
This is a great opportunity for us to make (X) in the UK!
Something about how the EU is bad
They took my sandwich!
This downside doesn't count because we already know about it

It makes me laugh a bit that people are worried about getting cycling kit from the EU, when Covid has so far cost the Country £300,000,000,000!
It's crazy times.0 -
Not worried. More annoyed I have to pay more for it (and lots of other things), on top of whatever cost rona brings.focuszing723 said:It makes me laugh a bit that people are worried about getting cycling kit from the EU, when Covid has so far cost the Country £300,000,000,000!

The two things are not mutually exclusive. You can be annoyed at both the Govt handling of Covid (and the cost / corruption it has wrought) and the impact of Brexit - on a personal and a societal level.focuszing723 said:It makes me laugh a bit that people are worried about getting cycling kit from the EU, when Covid has so far cost the Country £300,000,000,000!

Reducing choice often does give someone an advantage. But it's generally not to the consumers' advantage.1 -

You reckon a business that sees bigger profits in a market with reduced competition is more objective? OK.1 -
