As in, 25% of the fish they catch in UK waters?TheBigBean said:EU's final, final offer is that UK gets 25% of its fish with a renegotiation in 7 years. Lots of complaints from coastal countries and fishing organisations.

Hard to put this in 'neutral' terms.
EU are at 'repatriating' 25% of their current catch of UK fish
The UK are at 60 %
The EU seem to accept they can't have what they had
The UK accept they can't catch all the fish they 'own' and would have no market for them even if they could
So, what's the 'number'“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -
They are offering tariff free access so that the fishermen can sell what they catch into the market where they get a decent price.morstar said:This is where I really don't get the Eu position.
Their position seems to me that they are doing us a favour by accepting less than full access to existing fishing quotas. Not as though they must offer us something to retain that access to which they no longer have any rights. There is cake and eat it occurring here from their side.
As our requirements are also, unrealistic, I can see why talks have stalled.0 -
The number is a cash payment to the UK. Same as any other resource e.g. oil.tailwindhome said:pangolin said:

Also, not catching all the fish is an excellent idea as the EU seems intent on ignoring scientific advice on quota.3 -
Also, the UK's position is a complete renegotiation after 3 years0

What's the position on UK fishermen, do we get to fish their waters in return for a similar repayment?- Genesis Croix de Fer

Cash payment smells very much like 'selling' out the UK fishing industryTheBigBean said:

I think, but I'm not clear at all, under the EU proposal everyone fishes everyone's waters, but the UK share goes up.pangolin said:What's the position on UK fishermen, do we get to fish their waters in return for a similar repayment?
Under the UK proposal, there would be a similar annual negotiation, but the UK's share would be much larger. For example, the UK wants the same position as Norway, and it negotiates with the EU every year and then everyone goes everywhere. If there is no agreement such as now, then Norweigans fish in Norway's waters and the EU likewise.1 -

And we want to separate that renegotiation to exclude all other trade.TheBigBean said:
