In perspective, LBL was 4,000 last week, so it's definitely a tough test
Flanders has about 2,400 for comparison.

You forced me into this because I didn't want to appear foolish... Here's the old route with the muur, fed into strava.

2,632m according to that."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

A link to the .gpx file for RVV2015 is here. Maybe you could work it out from this. I don't know!

Back on topic - what's the weather like for today's stage?0 -
8 leaders - Tennant, De Backer, Steels, Bernaudeau, Brammeier, Edet, Slik and McNally. Wonder if this will be the breakaway group for the day.

Appears that would be the case, as the lead group go through Market Weighton with a lead of over 5 mins.
Women's race update - Sprint finish in the end, won by Brit Louise Mahe (IKON-Mazda).
The top three - Louise Mahe, Eileen Rowe and Katie Curtis (photo c/o Ian Parker).

Woohoo. Lotto Jumbo get their first win. Hofland.0
-
Great ride by the Giant and Genesis riders. Great move by GVA - would have been great if he got it. Ends up some Jumbo rider gets it - their first win of the season which goes to show what sort of calibre of riders they were up against today.Contador is the Greatest0

not a bad finish all told...0

I've backed Hofland so many times when there aren't any top tier sprinters. The day I don't back him he wins.0

Is slow - UK averages are always slower mind (heavy roads).
But yeah, slow.0 -

I hope not...I am in the lake district for a friends significant birthday party tonight. I have to say I feel relief for the team as opposed to outright joy. However, I shall toast him quietly and hope it leads to many more, and a more secure future for the team!Half man, Half bike0 -

Heading back from Selby to York it was a constant headwind - not gusty, but persistent - so I can believe it being a bit slower than expected. Luckily I infiltrated a fairly fast bunch and sucked wheels for most of the way home...0 -

^this, generally a lot grainier than European blacktop0 -
Ned and Millar seemed to have trouble telling NFTO and Cult Racing apart which is fair enough as their helmets are identical and kit similar but really confused me when they said NFTO were all over the front working for Russ Downing! OKish stage but dull in comparison to yesterday (understandably). I really hope tomorrow provides the stage it should but there's a risk that Sky will control it too well.0
-
35km/h is wrong, they covered 174km in 3:58 so 43.9km/h. UK roads may be slow but local 3/4 races average more than 35km/h.0
-
I thought Boulting and Millar did a better job today though - less talking over each other.
One thing the cameras missed was the three tailenders toiling away long after the main field had finished. When they rolled past us for the last time (by the big screen in the centre of town) Karel Hnik couldn't resist sitting up to see how bad their deficit was on the screen above them. The hilarious look of disgust and horror (and the exaggerated eyeroll that followed) ensure that I'll be looking out for his results in future.0
